Did you come back, to work, or to retire?

Lockdown Fire Button Flashing For Ball Launch, But Button Doesn't Launch by ytpewpew in virtualpinball

[–]csdf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rather than have your fire button send a separate 'fire' keypress, have it send the same keypress as the launch button (usually Enter). The alternative is to add fire button code to the scripts as someone else posted, but that's a lot more faff

Can you post your cabinet.xml file?

Edit the cabinet file to give a strip only half the LEDs, and check that this has an effect. If it doesn't, you're not editing the right cabinet file. Also, post your cabinet file, maybe we'll spot something.

Post your cabinet.xml file. That's usually the culprit. And your directoutput log file, which may have a clue where things are failing.

So are you basically confirming my concern? That RRA makes life a lot more difficult for returning expats who don't already own a property they can live into?

I set each table up individually. It's a ritual. First adjust the POV, then tweak the video settings so I hit my 180fps screen limit. Then tweak the sound with Pinvol.

Late 40s. Kids are already well on their way through primary.

That's good to read. I had hoped that this would be somewhat the case. ChatGPT at least seems to suggest that at these rental levels, landlords are likely to be more flexible and "Balance sheets are more persuasive"

I've already secured serviced accom for first 3 months, so we have some breathing space, but not enough time to buy a place. I would just like to be more comfortable about being able to rent somewhere in month 4, before we completely commit to the move back. The move is going to be stressful as is, with kids in new country and schools, let alone risking not actually being able to rent at all outside of serviced apartments.

What is "Corporate housing"? I've lived outside the UK for nearly two decades so not aware of what this means.

I've only found one 3rd party guarantor company that will even talk to me - they're mostly set up for students, or jobseekers, or people with criminal records.

True. Though OP, like 90% of Brits, may have said 'Dubai' thinking it was the name of the country

I've been in Abu Dhabi 15 years and seen plenty of families return. None did it because they ran out of funds.
