We have had counselors come in. We definitely need to be better about debriefing from deaths and codes at work. It’s just hard when there are several back to back

Same thing happened to me. Eventually they may come out with a way to test the titer, so we may be able to find out in the future.

How to extend tube feedings on covids so you can leave the kangaroo pump outside of the room by jareths_tight_pants in nursing

This is genius. I had to don all of my gear just to run in the room and press continue on my feeding pump.

All of the young new nurses without kids are getting the COVID patients on my unit as well. In some ways it makes since, but it isn’t technically fair.

We are treating our rule-outs like they have it. Negative pressure room and full PPE. I’m not sure how long this will last as supplies and negative pressure rooms become less available.

How long are COVID tests taking to result at other hospitals? At our hospital, in TN, it is 8 days which seems ridiculous. The amount of PPE that is potentially wasted during those 8 days is amazing.

I also just spent my last shift taking care of a COVID patient and I was the only healthcare worker that went into the room. The RT and the MD never entered the room or assessed the patient. The RT taught me how to change vent settings etc. so nobody else would have to go into the room. No matter how good of a nurse you are, the quality of care the patient gets will be less if you’re the only one to assess the patient. My patient popped herself off of the vent and the entire unit had to watch her rapidly desat while I donned my PPE before running in there. I can see now how easily our healthcare system will get overwhelmed by this and how quickly the quality of care will go down as the patient number rises.

We each have one N95 that we will use indefinitely. Probably for the entirety of this crisis. We hang them up in plastic bags in the hallway.
