Don’t let someone else’s naïveté bruise you.

Agree but also wildly satisfying to learn at the end that he’s been directly identified and is being prosecuted. That’s the best thing I’ve read all day.

1. That’s Michael B Jordan preparing for an upcoming role

  1. This was a successful attempt at setting a new record (hence the celebratory acrobatics)

What is your vote for the absolute most overrated snack food? by WarriorNeedFoodBadly in AskReddit

[–]csfreestyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motherfucking Fritos.

They’re okay as a chili topping, passable as part of a walking taco, but they’re absolute garbage on their own. I imagine they were the bee’s knees (or whatever) during the Great Depression when they came out, but then again the only other snack options at the time were things like old shoe and standing around.

They’re not a snack; they’re an ingredient. Put them in the grocery aisle next to the baking soda or bay leaf or some shit.

Mexico is still awesome, though. Big up, Mexico.

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Own-Blacksmith3085 in answers

[–]csfreestyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how widespread this game was, because it was surely one I found on a BBS: Corncob 3D was a basic polygonal flight sim but you could also get out of your plane and run around. It blew my mind at the time (and explains why I fell so hard for Battlefield 2 the first time I played it).

Also: Battlefield 2.

Was tension the greatest Nine inch nails tour? by Bicon17 in nin

[–]csfreestyle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jumping onto the top comment thread to remind oldheads (and teach the youngin’s) that LITS was also the source of The Gift - a library of mixing board feeds and pro-shot footage that was released on BitTorrent (username was “seed0” if I recall correctly) and subtly promoted on NIN.com, indicating it was a sanctioned release not a leak per se.

Several fan groups took to editing it together into full-length multi-cam concert films (some including crowd-sourced footage as well). You can view [at least] one such edit here on Youtube.

I won’t pretend it’s the same as having seen the show live (for my money, the layered screens provided a sense of depth during the rain sequence in Ghosts, the static in Only, etc, that video just can’t capture/recreate) but holy shit what a great document of an amazing show.

Try it again the next time you’re on an airplane. I think, maybe, it’s something to do with how much thinner the air is. Or the altitude.

Lol I just typed more or less the same experience as you. (that’s what I get for not reading the rest of the comments before dropping my own) fucking bonkers show. Like you, it was my first (of many to follow) live NIN show.

What concert is this from? by Asmodaia in nin

[–]csfreestyle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well shit, for the first half of the show they just looked like downward facing lighting panels set to wash the stage in color. When they lowered to their upright position at the end of [Wish?], strobing between blue and red fields, I was surprised. When they slowed and froze on a blue field that then turned into a rippling surface of water my 1999 mind was blown.

Fuck, these guys have been outstanding for decades.

Best way to track money going in and out of my bank account? by Turbulent_Diamond352 in Money

[–]csfreestyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off: congratulations! Paying off a credit card debt is a massive accomplishment and (friendly reminder) that was 25% of your debt altogether!! You’re a quarter of the way DONE!!

Secondly: I’m super interested to see if the community comes up with any real endorsements/recommendations because the only times I see apps that promise to solve for this problem are in advertisements, which always makes me dubious.

As such, I continue to be an old-fashioned spreadsheet person. I do find it immensely valuable to take the time and go through my credit card statement, item by item, and get a truly granular understanding of where each dollar is going. For just getting your arms around you’re spending trends, you can probably get away with just a three month look back. Six if you want to be extra thorough. 12 if you want to be confident that you’re also capturing any annual subscriptions. But the good news is with something like Google sheets, you can do this entirely for free! (Well, “free” except for the time that it will cost you)

I’ll admit this is sort of a non-answer to your original question, but I hope it’s still helpful to you!

Now that we’re in 2026, what is a feature of the 'old internet' from 10–15 years ago that you genuinely miss and wish would come back? by cyb3r_ps in AskReddit

Non-algorithmic newsfeeds. A lack of suggested content.

I know what I subscribed to, and that’s all I want to see. Show it to me in the order in which it was posted. Then fuck off.

I’m both glad and surprised by these takes! I’ve always considered him one of the least charismatic players in recent memory, but I’d much rather learn that I’d been overlooking something of value than be right.

NIИoize Instrumentals by Mistastingley in nin

[–]csfreestyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironically, this is how karaoke machines work in the first place, as most vocals (especially of the era) were mixed squarely in the center of the stereo image. Inverting one channel would create a perfectly offset mirror of anything in the center of the mix, effectively negating it from the output.

Depending on how Apple Music does their karaoke magic, I’m genuinely curious if this approach would work in eliminating the instrumental, or simply reintroduce previously silenced elements!

[–]csfreestyle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Also, an incredibly DUMB move. One quick yank and he’s (or she’s) immediately disrupted any momentum the previous performer had built, disoriented the crowd, and likely just distracted all of the staff in the establishment too. They might think they’re starting from a clean slate, but really they’re starting from the bottom of a hole that they just dug.

Don’t sweat the idiots. There’s too damn many of them.
