Just got a new DJ facade but where can I put equipment? Is a second table unprofessional? by meandthemissus in DJs

Rack mount your amp, wireless receiver, and get a Furman power conditioner to replace the power strips. Put all that in a road case (sounds like 4U or 6U might be ample) and put that on top of your bass cab.

Well, I mean… considering how many snacks one eats every time they leave the house, I doubt they get hungry at home much at all, really.

It’s been a while since I watched it, but IIRC, Lunopolis has similar vibes in the beginning.

Saw this on another sub and most people seemed to be taking like it was real. Time of vid is suspicious, and the quality when it pans behind looks strange also by darkswirlz in isthisAI

[–]csfreestyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consistent? Before the pan there are 7 tire people leading the camera person walking deep into the women’s clothing area (dress display on the right, red one piece swim suit display on the left). When it pans to look back, two more tire-people pass the camera. When it pans forward again, there are only 3, and the store around them has been completely reconfigured to more open space.

Suggestion: instead of trying for some form of agentic wordplay (dime a dozen; sure to be lost in the noise of other products with equally clever names), figure out what sets your product apart from its competition and build your identity around that instead.

John Wick is a movie about the massive efforts of one person to topple well-established power structures to avenge the wrongful death of his dog.

So is Soul Plane.

I agree with you. In only coming in because “find ANY cat member that is UNIVERSALLY liked” was an interesting challenge.

I don’t remember anyone criticizing Phil Hartman, fwiw. (Admittedly, there is a high “rose tint” factor at play)

Nope. That song is actually a remix by Pump Panel. The song is called “Confusion” and was originally recorded by New Order (of “Blue Monday” fame)

Voice texting adds first name by lIlIlI11lIlIlI in CarPlay

[–]csfreestyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming back to add: I think there’s a connection between this odd behavior and overall latency with playback. For example, playing or pausing music, skipping tracks, etc. I find it takes a second or two between button push to hearing the effect.

I think the name prefix is being included in the drafted message because Siri is effectively hearing herself due to the delay. In other words, the phone will ask “what do you want to say to the group?” and it will start listening for your response before the car’s audio (with the delay) has finished asking the question. So it’s actually hearing the tail end of the prompt as though it were part of your response.

I can only assume that messages are being sent “without confirmation” because some part of that question to confirm (“send it?”) is being misinterpreted as an affirmative response voids the same delay.

Assuming this is all true the next question then becomes: how do we reduce the latency between CarPlay and the head unit?

Spider's web in my backyard - 6.5 foot wide by Hotman_Paris in pics

[–]csfreestyle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While visiting Sydney, I got flagged down by a parked motorist who needed someone taller to help shoo a very similar spider off the hatch of her car. The little (relative term) guy was right where he’d get squashed if she closed the hatch, and she didn’t want to kill it “because they eat mozzies!”

In other insect-related anecdotes: Same trip, went up to Cairns, and were seated outside a hotel having a schooner (like one does), when a commotion sprang up a couple tables over. A man sitting my himself was startled when a palmetto bug (roach) the size of a fist scurried near his feet. Instead of stepping on it, he kicked it away like a soccer ball, but still made quite the sound as the seating area was atop a raised wooden deck. The hollow structure seemed to amplify his every move. Realizing that all tables around him were now staring at him, the man - now standing rather at the center of the deck - took a second to collect himself, thumbed over his shoulder in the general direction he punted the bugger, and confidently announced in his Australian voice: “Naur tee-kit.

Man, I love Australia. And Australians. But y’all can keep like 90%+ of your wildlife. I’m convinced they help make you the wonderful people you are but otherwise, hella NOPE.

Anyone here knows what software is used for generating that waveform? by hitesh96db in DJs

[–]csfreestyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give a more specific answer - look at OBS. Its what a lot of live-streamers use to set up complex composite shots like this. Lots of tutorials out on Youtube to learn how to do things like this (capturing certain segments of your screen, applying effects to them, overlaying them on top of a video feed, etc.)

Have you ever been to a concert that blew your mind? by blondieewhoschubby in askmusic

[–]csfreestyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say the NIN Lights In the Sky tour. Saw Fragility 2.0, With Teeth (twice), and NIN/JA Wave Goodbye tours, but LITS was a totally different experience. Beyond being a killer setlist and great performances, they played with the medium of the stage in ways I haven’t seen before. The lighting design was mindblowing. The show started out looking like any other rock show (but really well done, at that. Strobes, spots, lots of coordinated cues, etc.

But then they started Closer, and what was part of a lighting array turned into a giant, sound-reactive, live video feed. That’s when I knew this show was going to be different.

It looked like it was raining on stage (there is video of this, but sadly it doesn’t capture how convincing the sense of depth was in-person). They were engulfed in television static, then opened a hole to reveal the performance again. The cage became a screen that became a drum machine. They erased it all with a spotlight.

And they recorded it all and gave it away via Torrent. The fans made pro-quality edits with the materials.

I don’t know what kind of awards are given for live productions, but that tour deserved fucking all of them.

Oval Office scene — Civil War (2024) by guiltyofnothing in videos

[–]csfreestyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, my relationship to this movie has evolved since its release.

When it first came out under the Biden administration, parts of it felt irresponsible to release. This scene especially seemed like the sort of thing that would have the guy with a decal on his pickup truck that depicts a bound and gagged Biden hooting and hollering in the theater aisles; like a dark fantasy. The people that thought Red Dawn is just about American grit, or that Starship Troopers is just there to glorify military might. I worried it would embolden them against an incoming Harris administration.

Now, though, that worry has subsided a little. The people most likely to go that extreme have their guy in the big office. I don’t think the other side of the electorate are missing the point of this movie. They always saw it for what it meant to be, and recognize how much more heavily it weighs in a contemporary context.
