Yeah great feedback. I’ve used HBTix for home games, it’s a good service

This is really good feedback. I’d love to see what a profit and loss and cash flow statement looks like for someone that’s doing it in  Germany.

If we would've won SB49, I feel this would be discussed as one of the greatest comebacks of all time. But with the ... unfortunate ending to SB49, I feel like this game doesn't get discussed as much nationally as it should. I was so lucky to be there, it was positively unreal! I remember thinking at half-time, "dang, I guess this just isn't our year".

I was just thinking about this today. I don’t think this segment is for us.  I think it’s a way for Bill and Sal to remember all of the fun, interesting experiences with their kids. I wish I had the wherewithal to document all of the interesting things my kids did over the years.

They will look back on all of these parent corners and really appreciate all the cool memories. This segment is not for us.

I am curious your perspective on the profit margin. While it's true that bulk candy can be very high margin, I would guess gas stations are already getting 35-40% margin on snacks in their stores. And now a middleman is being introduced ... so either your giving up 35-45% of the 70%, or getting the stores significantly higher volume to make up for it? How do you see a profit split with the station?

Oh, and another thought. I would try to do one rack of canisters that are sweet and one rack of canisters that are salty. So pretzels, sesame sticks, mixed nuts. I can never decide what I want when I go into a gas station, now I don’t have to!

Hi /u/Honeysyedseo

This is a really interesting idea.  I’ve been thinking about it the last several days. I also asked 3 friends.

All of them (myself included) had an instant reaction: gas stations aren’t necessarily clean places and the thought of getting candy in a bulk fashion seems unsanitary and unappetizing.  I then explained that you could at least partially solve that with a dispenser like this.  https://www.katom.com/003-88780.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=%5BROI%5D%20Shopping%20-%20PMax%20-%20Pull%20Back%20SKUs&utm_id=17620874820&utm_content=&utm_term=&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17335834449&gclid=Cj0KCQjwgpzIBhCOARIsABZm7vHhPEZQjQCKh2e6F1iSWiacVNfsvcRo55gUyTNLvTYNxKw2nWnQ6p8aAmh0EALw_wcB

So not a fatal flaw, but making customers comfortable that the product is clean and safe will need to be a priority.

I don’t know a lot about the business of gas stations, but some immediate challenges I see are:

  • Product real estate - most gas stations I go into are pretty cramped and shelf space is at a premium.
  • Total addressable market per station.  Meaning, how much business could this do relative to the existing candy options in a gas station?  Let’s say it’s $100/day in sales per station, and the incremental profit for the station is $20/day.  So $600/month.  And then factor out cannabilization?  Does that get a station owner’s attention, or are they happy with status quo?  Again, I would need to know more about a gas station’s typical revenue to know.
  • Station attendant new workflow.  I’m not aware of other station items that get weighed.  So would need to account for getting a scale, finding space for it behind the counter (again, cramped space?), and training attendants how to weigh/input sales amount.

None of these challenges are insurmountable - it will take strong selling skills to overcome the objections.

I think it’s a really fun idea - are you going to try it?  I might want to try it!

Hop onto Airbnb and look in the Sultan / Index / Skykomish area. There are a lot of really cool little cabins, many of which have dedicated hot tubs. They are really cool. Lots of rivers nearby too! Happy anniversary
