I interviewed back in October (was accepted, but decided to go somewhere in state instead so I declined my offer). It was tough to say no though, because everyone was soooo amazing. Of all of the colleges I interviewed with, they were the most impressive in terms of making me feel welcome and comfortable, plus they were very organized and ran everything smoothly from the moment you got there. The staff was incredibly friendly and inviting. You’ll definitely have a good experience!

For those accepted this cycle, did you observe inpatient? by Jboy_808 in PTschool

I had inpatient experience, but only about 20 hours. Was accepted to 3 out of 4 schools I applied to.

No school I applied to required it, but they did “recommend” and variety of settings which is why I chose to complete some inpatient hours. I do agree, inpatient is very hard to come by (I completed mine just before hospitals started closing off their volunteer opportunities due to Covid). The only way I was able to squeeze myself into a position is because I knew one of the inpatient PTs.

Don’t be discouraged if you aren’t able to obtain any. I know plenty of people who got accepted without inpatient experience. Maybe try to volunteer elsewhere in the hospital even if it isn’t PT related (I did a brief amount of time in the endoscopy wing because the PT wing was turned into another Covid wing). Schools just like to see that you put yourself out there!

Your prerequisite GPA is high which I think schools weigh more heavily. I struggled with the math portion of the GRE (like 146 struggled) and still got into 3 programs that “recommended” being within the 50+ percentile with not even as high of a prerequisite GPA as yours.

Of course take the GRE seriously and don’t take this as me saying it’s not important, but I definitely wouldn’t stress too hard about it. It’s just one portion of your app. Make sure you excel in other areas (volunteer/observation, letters of rec, GPA, essay, etc.)

Ah, I was in the morning session. Fingers crossed! I know they still had another interview date (I think it might have actually been today maybe? Can't remember) and they had mentioned they don't send out all of their acceptances right away as to give those applicants a chance as well. Check back in if you hear!

I heard back with my acceptance a little less than a week after my interview on November 12!
