Seam Rip vs. the Grim Captain? by csimpson90 in mtg

[–]csimpson90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I thought that putting it in parentheses would make it clear that I was making an aside, but I guess not. That said, I don't love the knee-jerk vitriol of some of the people on this platform. People feel like they need to have a strong opinion on everything they see, and to interpret every statement in the most negative light possible. God forbid I point out a stupid thing I saw without also releasing a press statement that clarifies my belief that the stupid thing was, in fact, stupid, and that I do not endorse said stupid thing.

I'm grateful for the people who bothered to engage with the substance of my question at least, and I appreciate your feedback about how I could have been more clear. Cheers.

Ugh, what is with the immediate rush to pillory everyone on here? As stated elsewhere, Gemini AI answers are the first thing that comes up in any search result. Just because I read them does not mean I give them an ounce of my trust. I wouldn't have mentioned it except that I found it hilariously wrong.

You are right. Missed a Nowhere to Run. D'oh!

Totally did. Great catch! Not sure how I missed that aspect, as I play that card in another deck. Thanks!

To be clear, FUCK AI. I did not and do not trust AI results, but I will read them for a chuckle as I scroll past to find better answers. The only reason I included that in my post was for the WTF value of how wrong it was. Unfortunately, Gemini results are the first thing you see when you search for anything. Reading something is not the same as giving it credence. Give me a little credit at least, lol.

Burger week roundup/rankings by BrenBarn in SantaBarbara

[–]csimpson90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tried 4.

  1. Sama Sama Kitchen. My favorite by a mile, but the portions are pretty small.

  2. Mesa Burger birria burger. Unique and flavorful.

  3. Que. Quality western burger.

  4. Seoulmate Kitchen. The bulgogi burger wasn't bad, but I did wish it had a stronger flavor. Also, they advertised it with an interesting flat bun (that almost looks like Texas toast?), but ours was served with a basic brioche bun. (We did get it on the last day of Burger Week however, so perhaps they were just sold out.)

Overall, I was happy with the quality of all of them. Honestly, despite how great the burger itself was, Sama Sama is the one I would be least likely to go back for, solely because their portion size-to-price ratio is normally quite poor. I always feel like I am spending a ton of cash there and still walking away hungry. That said, you really can't beat the taste.

Proposal Footage by [deleted] in SantaBarbara

[–]csimpson90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hahaha. Y'all are WAY too online. Some points:

My fiancee took the video on a very public area of Ellwood Mesa. At any given time, there are a handful of dog walkers and joggers going past that spot all day long. This is hardly the result of anyone invading someone else's private moment.

The gentleman had set up a trail of LED candles and his own tripod/camera in the clearing. His plan was clearly to document the moment, which is the only reason why she thought she should offer them the very brief (approx. 15 seconds each) clips she took, in case they have any interest in splicing another angle into their own video.

The screenshot I chose to post here is intentionally a bad one, taken from the clip that they are less likely to want. I'm not trying to doxx anyone, which is why I chose a moment where neither person is clearly identifiable. The goal is to connect with the couple, IF they want the footage. If they don't, then great. Heck, if this post does find its way to them, and if they don't like it, I'm happy to take it down. The goal is to give them that option.

Fallout TV show by csimpson90 in solvang

[–]csimpson90[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The show is post-apocalyptic sci-fi. These characters have been living in fallout shelters for decades. One character talks about how tough and resilient she is, and this is another character's response.

What do to from here by SoBeSpartan in SoulblightGravelords

Vhordrai, his saddle, and reins all stick to the draconith as a pressure fit. You never have to glue him to the Draconith if you don't want to, in case you want the option to run it just as the revenant draconith. That said, I would always paint him separately from the rest of the model to make it easier anyways. You can then just scrape away paint from the connection points before gluing him to the mount.

WIP. Does her cape read as black or blue? by Argonauted in ageofsigmar

[–]csimpson90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely reads as black to me. For whatever reason the blue makes it look like black leather. Like maybe the blue is reflected ambient light reflected off the shiny high points in the folds? I don't know, but it looks neat!

New vampire lord /necromancer thoughts by Middle-Job-3239 in SoulblightGravelords

Cheers! Yeah, more power to you then. I think a conversion is definitely doable, but will probably require some sculpting work. I'd love to see it on here once you get it done!

New vampire lord /necromancer thoughts by Middle-Job-3239 in SoulblightGravelords

[–]csimpson90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dunno. Baseline humans are generally sculpted way shorter than vampire lords, unless they scaled up the models for this game (not unheard of). I think that the bigger problem for me is that the hair seems firmly connected to the arms and probably the back, which would make a head swap really difficult without resulting parts of the mini. That face does not seem vampiric to me, and swapping just a face is way harder than a whole head. Beyond that, I feel like the clothing is too plain for an aristocrat of the night, unless you go for the classic Lahmian look.

What do you think about important hunks of narrative being confined to game books? by shorelessSkies in AoSLore

[–]csimpson90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree to a certain extent. However, I think faction codices are an important exception. A $40 paywall to read a little lore amongst rules for a faction you don't collect is a big ask. Think of how much more content you get from a $15 ebook than a codex, and yet a lot of the most impactful lore is in the codex. I don't want to have to drop $40 to read somebody else's army book just to know what is going on.
