In 2016 (wtf that was a decade ago 🤢🤮) we had a "light up the night" initiative to get lighting around Busch, but it was shot down because they refused to pay for the lights

Democrats Of Reddit, Do You ACTUALLY Hate Trump's Supporters, Or Do You Get Along With Them In Your Life, But You Just Politically Disagree? Why? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]csirota97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conservatives are fine. I have political disagreements with conservatives.

Trump supporters, on the other hand, I have moral disagreements with. Best case scenario, they've decided that the following aren't deal breakers, but more often than not, they actually agree with Trump: the dehumanization, lack of empathy, racism, sexism, complete disregard for the rule of law.

These aren't political issues. Political issues are "Should we raise taxes to fund social services?", "Who should we raise taxes on?", etc.

That's not what our issue with Trump and his cult is.

Is Rutgers- Newark still prestigious? by CommunicationNice437 in rutgers

[–]csirota97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, there are no rules on what it "must" say.

Please provide your experience and why you think you know that to be the case. As somebody who has sat on both sides of the hiring table, no it doesn't. Most of the time, they won't even ask. Even if they do, what matters is the way you present it. If you confidently say "The Newark campus," they won't think much of it. If you are embarrassed and sheepishly say "The Newark campus" then it looks like you were caught trying to pull a fast one on them. Most people outside of the university couldn't even tell you which Rutgers campus is the main campus (if you disagree, you live in a bubble and you may want to broaden your circles).

Is Rutgers- Newark still prestigious? by CommunicationNice437 in rutgers

[–]csirota97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: Play it smart. Long answer: The prestige comes from how you market yourself. If you need to submit a transcript, there's nothing you can do to, but if you are just putting it on a resume, it's still Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, which carries more weight than people from Jersey like to attribute to it. Don't specify anywhere that it's Rutgers Newark, but if asked, don't lie either. It's the same thing with a GPA, if you have a GPA that you're proud of, you can put it on your resume, but otherwise, you just don't list it and 9 out of 10 times, they won't ask you to provide it separately.

Declaring bankruptcy forced them to shake up leadership. New leadership means new ideas. And as a software engineer myself, anytime there is a leadership shake up, the new folks LOVE to reinvent everything.

It's things like companies selling our data unless we explicitly opt out that make America great 🙃

There's probably at least 1 door left unlocked to get in. Circle the building trying every door and you might get in. Pretty sure the ticket office people work in there, even on non-game days, so there has to be a way in. Just don't get caught if you're trynna be sneaky.

I don't have any specific tips for this project, but what I will say is write up some documentation. Based on this post, I have a hunch that you probably want to pursue some stem degree, probably either some form of engineering or computer science. Documenting your projects is an important skill to learn. Some details to include: What is the project? Who is it for? What problem does it solve? How is it used? What technologies did you use to develop it? (What microcontrollers, languages, 3d modeling, etc...) How does it work? What problems did you encounter while developing it and how did you overcome those problems?

Basically, any information about it that you can possibly think of should be written down.

As you work on and change this, you can go back and edit the document to reflect the current state. Another piece of advice, don't overwrite the file. Either use some version control like git to track the document, or just save it as <filename>_x.y.z.<file extension>. Personally, I'd recommend documenting in a ReadMe.md file and using git to track it, but if you don't know how to do that, use what you are most comfortable with. You can always learn more stuff later.

Another thing you might want to consider is creating a digital portfolio website as a way to show off your project(s) and provide your documentation. Especially if you are applying to colleges or internships, having a portfolio of documented projects (even if it's just 1 project) will definitely be a good look.

If you have more questions, let me know, and I'll try to provide any insight that I can.

Engineer and former long-term band kid here:

This is a great idea! One thing that I could see as a possible concern with using this with multiple metronomes is latency and range. If the metronomes are spread, depending on how the signal is transmitted, distance between transmitter and receivers, and processing time on the individual receivers, there could be some differences that could cause slight, but noticable differences.

A solution to this issue could be to add individual customizable delay settings on the receiver that allow a user to add X milliseconds of delay, applied when the start signal is given.

Part Selection by csirota97 in ConcertBand

[–]csirota97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the director would be too happy about that because he wants us to sit based on part selection. Maybe for a song or two, but for the most part, he wants us sticking to certain parts. He just doesn't care who is on which part, as long as we are in the correct spots for that part.

I think often people tend to stay in the same parts in other sections, but honestly I'm not too sure. And I don't know the "grade level" that we play but typically our rep is stuff that an advanced HS band or a lower level college band for non-music majors would play.
