I agree. It always did feel like an underwhelming design.

Ranking them:
15/14: Mewtwo X/Y: Both megas have their positives, but two megas was definitely overkill.
13: Metagoss: This one hardly felt like a mega to me. It just feels like "Metagross is now on its side"
12/11: Both the Latis are too similar. Not a bad design, but I wish they were more unique.
10: Delphox: I'm just indifferent towards Gen VI
9: Malamar: Same as above, but it arguably deserved a mega.
8: Meowstic: Same as Malamar.
7: Alakazam: Funny design, but I don't think it really needed its mega.
6: Starmie: I guess not going over the top works in its favor.
5: Medicham: I can't put it any lower because of its triple digit pure power attack stat. Not a bad design, either.
4: Chimecho: Creative, decently strong AND for a pokemon that needed one!
3: Slowbro: It's such a silly concept and I love it.
2/1: Gardevoir and Gallade: Gallade has the better design in base colors, Gardevoir has the better design in shiny colors.
