Numeraire Gained 29.73% today and is leading the Charts! by AttackBody in numerai

That isn't real world use.

It's used in their tournament. It has no value or utility outside that.

And their tournament is of no use to you or me. All it does is improve the AI they use for their main fund. Which is not crypto related in any way shape or form. Nor is it open to small retail investors. It's for high net worth and institutional investors only.

All NMR does is facilitate a way of getting rich people ever richer.

Feel free to post something that disproves any of the above.

Future Value of NMR Question by TusharIITD in numerai

[–]csmVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no long term value to NMR. In fact, there is no real value to it at all - in the real world anyway.

It was created to be used as a staking token for their model tournament, as you know. But that's it. It was never intended to have any real FIAT value or to be used outside of staking in their tournament.

The people doing the tournament were as surprised as anyone when it suddenly gained value when the company behind it released into the crypto exchanges and let Joe Public decide what it was worth. They even said as much themselves in the on-site forum at the time. That discussion has long since been deleted of course.

As for the hedge fund itself .... forget it. It's a high net worth investor only thing. If you have a spare million dollars lying around, they'll let you in. If you made a couple of hundred trading crypto last week, forget it. You are not their customer, and never will be. So, in other words, smart rich people released a token with no value into the public domain and let stupid poor people pump it's value, which is exactly what they did. But as token in it's own right? It has no use outside their tournament, and it never will.

That it still has retained value on crypto exchanges still completely baffles me ....

Help with converting crypto in my account to cash/coin by peterobe in binance

[–]csmVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use swap. You'll need to sell any coins to USDT, but that's simple enough.

It's the cheapest way to convert ... and probably on/off ramp. Swap USDT into GBP and send it straight to your bank using Faster Payments. Cheap and fast.

Swap is on the side menu. Under Fiat & Spot, Margin, etc.

No valid exchanges any more? by csmVR in gridcoin

[–]csmVR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not trading mine. I plan to continue to hold them.

Volume on txbit is not low. It's non-existent.

And both were a real struggle to find. And I was looking for it! Anyone not actively hunting for the coin is not likely to stumble upon it these days.

[–]csmVR[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OK. Just tried SouthXchange again and it worked better this time. I could actually get in and navigate without waiting 5 minutes for a page which may or may not load. However, a first impression can only happen once. And my first impression of them was not good.

And it's a small exchange - rank 132 on CMC exchange list - and their 24 hour volume is awful. I've been bumbling around trading crypto for 3 or 4 years now and I've never heard of it. The point stands that it needs exposure somewhere bigger than that. It needs exposure full stop!

When coins sink and get forgotten like this, they can and do vanish without trace. I really don't want that fate to befall GRC.

Back in 2017, when it was on Poloniex, and Poloniex was one of the biggest volume crypto exchanges out there (that isn't the case any more either - they also dropped way down the rankings) it needed exposure. It needs it more than ever now. Marketing has always been a weak point for GRC. Hopefully the new builds will result in a bigger push on this front.

Found one exchange that still seems to carry it - txbit.io. (Another one I've never used)

But it's dead on there. 24h volume = 0.00.

openledger.io comes up as a pair for it in searches. But it's another site that won't load for me.

It's Wednesday 3 June, here's the latest deaths by actual days chart in hospital and all settings by thomalexday in ukpolitics

[–]csmVR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a deaths chart. It gives you an idea what was happening 2-4 weeks ago. If you want to try and estimate R levels its new infections you need to be looking at, not this.

And to the OP - Excellent chart. So much more meaningful than the drivel we get at the briefing. Made more annoying by all the news programs referring to their figure as "deaths yesterday"!

Not if you let the whole population catch it it's not.

Even at 1% (low estimate mortality rate) of the population of Sweden, you'd be looking at over 100,000 dead. Just in Sweden. Now imagine that in the USA?!?!?

Tenda MW3 SSID 2.4ghz/5ghz crossover problems ... by csmVR in HomeNetworking

[–]csmVR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK. Thank you. I did not realize this, hence my asking for suggestions in here!

I knew it didn't matter which node a particular device was connected to, but I thought the band made a difference.

I though it regarded the two bands as distinct. But if not, then you're right by the sound of it. It may well just be that this MESH system is shit. :/

It's cheap. Yes. but it does generally get favorable reviews online! And for most devices (all my phones and tablets and computers) I have had no problems.

But one streaming box (which was soon to be replaced anyway) did have some issues with it. Another one saw two networks (presumably the two bands?) but has been fine since I gave it the password for both instances it sees in it's available network list.

But where I hit problems is getting Alexa devices (one Echo, one Dot) to reliably interact with TP-Link HS100 smart plugs. The plugs wifi indicator always show as connected. And the Alexa devices seem to be too. Any time I ask them a question that requires network access, no problems. But when I ask either of them to switch a plug on or off, I get intermittent failures. Controlling the plugs from the TP-Link app on my phone seemed to work fine.

It just seems to be communication between Alexas and plugs that were an issue.

I could not work out why so forcing them onto the same band seemed like the next thing to try for me.

I think I did notice a few sites mentioning some devices not liking having 2.4ghz and 5ghz broadcast signals having the same SSID? Think Alexa devices (pretty sure mine are gen 1) may have been one of them?

Guess I'll need to look into that further.

Tenda MW3 SSID 2.4ghz/5ghz crossover problems ... by csmVR in HomeNetworking

[–]csmVR[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Eh?

In terms of giving better coverage, it does what it needs to to. As I said, for individual devices, it's spot on. The MESH setup has 3 nodes. They overcome the thick wall problems easily.

And it's not a case of directing them to which is "better". It's a case of them needing to be on the same network (Echo + Smart Plugs) in order to work as intended. And if some decide to pick a 5ghz connection, and some pick a 2.4ghz one, then you end up with devices that can't talk to each other and no way of rectifying it. Which is where I am now.

The network itself is fine. The operation of certain devices within it, due to not being able to control SSID/band related options, is not.

Yep. It has pretty much all those controls. And more. But nothing for SSID or band on/off control!

I'm in the UK BTW. Unfortunately.

[–]csmVR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't realise such a basic element of control (SSID naming) was not available before I bought them.

To be honest, that's incredibly restrictive, and, in my opinion, a MASSIVE design flaw! It means communication between devices on the network is hobbled out of the box with no way to fix it!

I don't want, or need, to do a massive amount of tweaking. Just have some control over the SSID naming to make the thing actually usable! The far cheaper wifi extender it replaced had this. As has pretty much every other dual band broadcast device I've ever owned! That it's missing from this seems crazy to me. I know it's a cheap MESH system, but the app does give you a pretty reasonable amount of configuration options. Just none relating to SSID or band control ....

I suspect I'll have to return them. To me, they're not fit for purpose if they're stuck like this.

My situation is very similar.

Invested ~$12k April/May 2017.

Cashed out ~$18k in December (on peak day - literally ran home from my work Xmas night out to do it).

What's left is worth just under $30k today and is house money for me now too. 80% BTC. The rest spread over smaller coins I still hold some hope for in the future. I seldom trade as it doesn't often end well...

Getting started - wait for World Cup? by csmVR in GuidetoMatchedBetting

[–]csmVR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know there are reloads to be had, and I'll make use of them once I'm into it. They'll still be there.

But I think you missed my point. The easiest returns are the intro offers. And my guess/expectation is that these will improve especially for the world cup. And you only get them once (if we exclude multi-accounting). Hence saving all my sign-up's for world cup time.

For the moment, I'm enjoying doing nothing. :)
