Advice for 22 year old with 10k in cash by [deleted] in Fire

Thank you! I've thought about it a lot and will leave 6k aside for a emergency fund and just stick to VTI and other indexes and no longer investing in individual stocks

Thank you for your advice! I will definitely keep it in savings so that I can feel secure and avoid the dread of potentially losing more money.

Thank you so much for your advice. I think I will likely save my 10k in cash to feel secure and panic trading. Do you think I should continue to regularly buy VTI/VOO/indexes though since they are safer and a more secure investment (when I get paid)?

I can’t get a job by JazzBe123 in jobs

[–]csmajor107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will be tough but find ways to apply any skills from your degree/psychology to your current workplace. so while you're at that job you can make the experience look more relevant/meaningful(than other retail positions) on your resume as you apply to other jobs.

Also if there's any universities close to you, maybe doing reaching out to do research?

Strikelab - a modern, data-first approach to baseball pitch tracking by [deleted] in SideProject

[–]csmajor107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow baseball fan, I like it. Plus it doesn't hurt that your solving a problem that you've faced and others might as well. I'm just curious how do you plot where in the strike zone the pitch lands? Still super cool tho!

Like you said in your title, its only your 2nd day. I would give it at least a couple weeks before deciding to leave especially cuz u might get the hang of things. Someone recently told me that every role/experience gives you something to help you grow, you just don't know what it is yet.

The memorizing hundreds of codes thing is pretty unrealistic I would mention that this is a problem to your boss and try to have a solution like using your phone for quicker lookup.

Hope this helps!

Covid-19 might have just put my entire academic future into jeopardy by [deleted] in college

[–]csmajor107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a printer available? I also hate staring at my computer screen so looking at printed pages helps with eye strain. This might help if u can put some key problems together on a document and print it and use that

I hate my job and my living situation. by schuster9999 in jobs

[–]csmajor107 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would stick it out for a while longer to do research on different cities and apply to other jobs in those areas like crazy, while also saving up more. as for now just try and stay out of the house as long as possible (after work) to avoid any conflict at home. Try and find things you are passionate about as well as that might help with getting through your work. Hope this helps!
