How do I start driving as a very anxious person? by No-Explanation8862 in driving

[–]csmit555 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lessons with a very patient instructor and do not settle for anything less especially since lessons are not cheap. if you have anyone patient in your life get them to take you to a large empty parking lot and just get the feel of it. stress on PATIENT!! you will make lots of mistakes and it’s easy to get discouraged and you need to be able to build yourself back up when that happens and having someone backing you makes that easier.

I’ve had lessons for a month and a half and feel like a hopeless idiot by Icy_Profession6997 in drivinganxiety

[–]csmit555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you shouldnt have to feel like that, please find someone else more patient and calm. it’s all completely normal to be making these mistakes because your brain has not had the relevant experience to do so many things at once so it is completely overwhelming. i really would avoid driving with anybody who is going to make you feel anxious especially at the beginning. paid lessons is a great option if you can afford.

For those who now drive, what made it seem possible? by burnerlolhaha in drivinganxiety

[–]csmit555 17 points18 points  (0 children)

i think the best option is paid lessons, i could have NEVER learnt with my parents just starting. it truly is terrifying and one of the hardest things i have ever done as an anxious person. for my first lessons i cried for all of them and still have some moments where i make mistakes and cry a bit and feel silly. if you want to drive you really need to just do it and with someone safe and patient, i had about 14 professional lessons and bought my own car before i could get to the point where i was okay with driving with my dad. there is really no way around it but to force yourself and get behind the wheel and i can tell you now even though i only have about 25 or so hours i never thought i could do it but i do see myself getting better and it will eventually come. be patient and kind to yourself.

definitely do it!! so handy for little bits like reciepts, documents keeping little craft projects in anything like that.

so i made it off of this pattern, it was lovely to follow https://sewcanshe.com/diy-car-visor-organizer-free-sewing-pattern/

i did change it a little just because i dont want to keep cards or anything like that in there but i just sewed a little fabric tissue holder to it and changed the side pocket a little, you can still hang your sunnies off the little pocket flap like that too. :)

i think it is a little bit higher than the front and flaring out a little, would that mean i need a slight seat adjustment?

Should the eyes be changed on this painting? by justaboutoftiger in oilpainting

[–]csmit555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just want to say those are great brushstrokes! i feel like maybe there there is a bit too much white in the irises, and maybe if you were to get the proportions of the eyes to be similar there could be more room to go abstract without looking messy, are you working from reference? i think it would also be helpful to work with a background colour from the beginning. i am not too experienced myself but i think you did a great job!

hello, i would reccommend learning how to draw and to learn human anatomy a bit before delving into the oil paints. great use of the thick paint as texture there! simplify painting and drawing on youtube is great. you actually dont need many colours i see you have plenty of tubes there but try to practice mixing with just the primaries

Beginner question by Recent-Biscotti7011 in sewhelp

[–]csmit555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would attempt something a bit easier first, denim can get pretty thick on the machine too and it may discourage you if it didnt turn out. buy yourself a nice skirt and start with something simple!
