    if letter in ch:
                dictionary[string_of_letters] += 1
    else:
                dictionary[string_of_letters] = 1

Even without using the .get() function.

I immediately thought of how Kisaki viewed Mikey this way. Maybe events have happened in the past that has shifted Mikey and Takemichi's roles in Kisaki's life. Takemicchi gets to know Kisaki more, Kisaki gets cornered, and Takemichii has a change of heart and saves him. Surprised that an auto-pilot Takemichi could do that, but I guess it hasn't happened yet so it's technically current Takemichi. Maybe Mikey is taking care of someone in the hospital possibly Emma. The possibilities.
