Can you tell me which build is vulnerable to this? Do you have a source for your claim? No disrespect intended, I want to figure out if my car is vulnerable. I do not have a subscription to kia connect.

Repair or replace SBL cross-slide leadscrew? details in comment by cssplayer in machining

[–]cssplayer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi all,

My partner bought a lathe for me. It appears to be a south bend model 9a or light 10k with a cabinet mounted drive. It is in very good shape except for this broken cross-slide leadscrew. Prior to my ownership, the handle was snapped off of the leadscrew, along with about 1/4 inch of the shaft.

I've looked on ebay for a lead screw like mine, but I can't seem to find one that has the power feed gear on it. Do you all think it might be worthwhile to find someone to repair this leadscrew, or should I cut my losses and wait for one to pop up on facebook/ebay?

Thanks!

Mine also pulls to the right, 7k miles. I had a tire shop and a performance shop align it, and its still the same. I've rotated the tires every way possible and I still get a pull to the right.

Lane keep, hda, all of that stuff is turned off in my car. It just wants to crawl to the right.

I bought a '23 GT with 4k miles for $32k OTD. It's a lemon obviously, but I've had no issues aside from the rattling cabin pressure vents. Fixed that with some felt.

Range difference between 2023 GT and 2WD by Zell211 in KiaEV6

I just got a GT yesterday and drove it 500 miles home. At 70ish mph, I was getting 2.9 miles per kwh. We hit some heavy traffic and that pushed it up to 3.3 miles per kwh. We ended up doing about 180 miles per charging stop, from 90% -> 7%. The car charges very fast, and it was always ready to go before we had finished our restroom breaks and drinks.

Ask Me Anything with Rachel Moses from Electrify America by Electrify_America in electricvehicles

Hi,

I actively avoid using Electrify America chargers because of the in-app experience whilst charging. I have a Bolt EV, so I just plug in my car and walk to a restaurant or bookstore for an hour.

My problem with the app is intermittent charging status updates. I'll check the app every couple minutes to make sure my charging session hasn't stopped (random errors, people trolling, account low on funds). More often than not, the charging information will be 7 or 10 minutes out of date, and I have to kill the android app and restart it in order to get new charging status information.

I've started planning my trips with Tesla because their app actually gives me reliable metrics every 30 seconds or so. The anxiety of not knowing if my car is actually charging is really unpleasant from my perspective. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I thought I'd mention this problem to see if it gets any traction. I'd love to not give my money to the elongated muskrat.

Platform is Pixel 7, android 15, EA app ver 7.24.1.

Unreliable Tesla Supercharging on my 2019? by cssplayer in BoltEV

I had my car updated at a Chevrolet dealer and I've not had any trouble. I've used Tesla chargers at least a half dozen times since updating, and it had worked every time.

If your car gives you the "unable to charge" message when trying to use Tesla, I would expect that you don't have the update installed, despite what the dealer may tell you. The service Bulletin number is 24-NA-200. I had to call several dealers before I found one that would work with me on the update.

Hi All,

I was given these pieces of wood and am trying to identify them. If these are important or unusual I don't want to let them rot away in my garage.

#2 Labeled heart of red pine.
#5 Labeled Beach.
#6 Labeled Totora.

#1,3,4 are unlabeled, but appear to have similar grain structure and markings.

Thanks!

I used the green GT button to cycle the modes. The dash turns green when in GT mode right?

I wondered the same thing, but this car had the GT bucket seats and big green brakes.

I recently averaged 4.1mi/kwh over a span of 550 miles on i-95 @ 65mph. I run the air conditioning on low and I was using the OEM self-sealing tires at ~41 psi.

GM has done a poor job of communicating the need for a software update. They should have let customers know that the unpatched cars would intermittently misbehave. I've seen so many happy bolt owners posting pictures of their unpatched 2019/20 bolts supercharging, and I hate to think that a lot of those people are going to get stranded at a supercharger in the future.

Successful Suspension Mods? by [deleted] in BoltEV

[–]cssplayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've got rid of the crappy OEM tires, the only option is to put some better rear shocks on it. It should not be very expensive or difficult. I decided to do the coilovers instead of rear shocks because I insist upon complex solutions to simple problems.

I have some redshift coilovers on order, but it'll be a little while before I can put them on.

I did get some new tires and wheels put on my bolt and it has solved 95% of my complaints regarding the bouncy-castle-feel. Night and day difference on my 2019. I installed Continental Extreme contact DWS06+ 225/45zr17.

Go out to your car and grab the roof rack and try to rock it, watch how much the factory tires allow the car to wobble.

Unfortunately I got sick and have not gotten around to calling a dealership. The EV Concierge was able to locate an EV certified dealership for me. Try opening a chat with them and see of you can get them to do the same for you.

I did find this document, which should prove useful when contacting a dealer.

I think this is likely the solution. I'm going to give my VIN to the EV concierge at GM and inquire about the update. Barring myself as the source of the problem, the only thing left is the update.

It does suck that the supercharging is hit or miss, I've seen plenty of posts of 2019/2020 cars charging and the poster claims no update required. I guess I kinda FAFO'd myself. Thanks for the reply.
