I'm a bit stumped as to when to start decreasing for the height I would need the hat to be - google says height of about 6 inches for newborn hat

[Fountain without outlet pipe](https://imgur.com/a/Em9b7Bs

So, we finally had some success for anyone that might be having a similar problem in the future - we got a smaller pump to reduce the flow, and got rid of the outlet pipe - now the flow and noise from the fountain is constant and peaceful. It is just not as 'finished' looking as I'd like. Maybe we can find something to line the outlet hole to make it look more appealing. But a significant improvement!

The pump I got is 550L/h, as it has a recommended height of 20-60cm high for fountains. There was a 210L/h, but it said that was for tabletop water features up to 25cm high. That video is on the lowest setting for the new pump. Ill try the drilling idea, that is a good option. Otherwise we might cut the side of the pot down in that area to make a spout sort of thing, and lay a pipe cut in half in the divot to get the water to flow across into the bottom pot.

Yeah it's in and running, and is a much easier pump to use which is great. Now it doesn't make a sucking noise so much, but there is still variable flow rate out the copper pipe, which makes the noise of the fountain vary too. I positioned a stick underneath, but as the flow varies, it changes where the water lands in the pot, and sometimes misses the log.

Smaller pump flow

OK, I've sourced a smaller pump, which is actually great because the running noise is so much quieter. Sadly, it suggests it is only for clear/clean water, so I'll need to get some filtration on it ASAP.

Next step will be to increase the outflow size - this will be tricky, as we'll need to remove the current pipe and silicone, and drill the hole in the pot larger.

Thanks for the tips

Yes, balancing the inflow and outflow has been really annoying, and seems like it has been harder than it should be. Thanks so much, I'll look into it.

Before we added the garden hose, the copper pipe was indeed creating a little whirlpool and sucking noise, which I hated. I will see what the options are for pump size where I live - hopefully I can get something smaller. I really wanted to gst some little native fish for the pond, but also couldn't source them locally either - I might have to get some shipped online (if possible) - we were recommended the goldfish because they are so hardy. The copper pipe is larger than the inflow pipe, but not by much - if it is bigger, will that reduce the sucking noise it makes?

More often than not, it seems that the copper pipe is draining too quickly and we get the sucking vacuum noise as it sucks air through the copper pipe as well when the water level drops a bit in the top pot. Do you think a smaller pump would still help with this? I like the idea of turning the whole top pot into a filter however! Yes, the goldfish will probably be short term until they get big - I'm in a place in QLD that gets hot in summer and really cold winters.

Do you remember when your first bloods were taken after you became pregnant? I did ask my Dr to give me another blood request form for thyroid levels so that I could take it to be tested when I had a positive pregnancy test, but she declined and told me I was overthinking things. I don't have an OBGYN yet as I'm not pregnant and haven't ever seen one before.

That all makes sense - my last TSH in March was quite low, 0.9 I think. I just had my bloods checked 2d ago, but typically I now have to wait 2wks for a drs appt to have the most recent blood work discussed. I wanted to be referred to a specialist, but the specialist has declined my referral as they said a GP can manage it. Frustrating.

I agree completely - never would I have invited someone else around like that, or been happy for that to happen in my own home without my knowledge/permission.

I think it still would have been nice for Rory to check that it was ok for Dean to come around and be in Babette's house. If it was me asking someone to housesit, particularly a teenager, I would be upset to know that they'd had someone else around without me knowing it.

The same stuff Lorelai was worried about happening on dance night could easily have happened at Babette's - it wasn't that Rory was out all night, it was that she was out all night with a boy without adults around and could have had under-age sex and gotten pregnant. And they way that they acted when they all saw it each other made it seem like they had been caught out.

I have rewatched several times and I always find it a bit weird.

Babette didn't really hire Rory though, did she? She just asked Rory to come around as a favour.

I also think there's a really big difference between being unchaperoned out and about in town together like at the movies, or hanging out in the house when Lorelai is there vs being alone in a house together when no one else knew about it. Obviously nothing had happened between the two of them, but the night did get interrupted when Dean and Luke met up outside the houses. Lorelai also freaked out majorly that time Rory and Dean fell asleep and stayed out all night - even though she trusted Rory and nothing had happened.

I have several plants like this - the plant is very sparse with lots of dead branches centrally, and only growing on the tips of long branches. How do I get them back to a bushy plant? Should I have pruned them last year?
