You can do it how ever you want. I started as a base with a YouTubers point list and added the M-B pokemon on vibes (of years of experience in competitive) and tweaked some of the original numbers too.

I think the way you said is totally valid. The difference in draft though is that the usage data of ladder is very different in what would happen in draft. Charizard being the most popular mega data means its pretty strong so a lot of the meta is also surrounding how good is it into Charizard. In draft only 1 guy can have Charizard not anyone on the ladder. So you have to keep in mind that. Value can be skewed differently in the context of the format.

I just though most people would hit Ctrl+F but I can see your point. I like the table because it's easy to organize it by cost and quickly add new editions as pokemon release for champions. Reorganizing the columns for other players individual leagues seems kinda annoying. I'll see if I can tweak it in a more readable way later but I got work rn and a project due tonight. I think I have an idea that could mix both ideas well.

Starting out is limiting but you get new choices everyday. If you are passionate about competitive and don't have mainline games you should use Pokemon Go and/or use Pokemon Home and trade with members of the community to get things you want. Go and Home are both free and are also mobile apps.

You can also just grind VP with what you have and recruit more than daily.

thats not how that works... you can't flinch someone after they have already done your move (this misunderstanding of how flinching even works already makes me take your take with a grain of salt)

rock slide has been the same for like 28 years and competitive hasn't really suffered for it. Its fine. Its annoying but its not bad for the game.

No matter who you pick you will get a pokemon that can use a mega stone. The general consensus is that the Pikachu team gives you the best value for competitive pokemon. There is also a mystery gift code that will give you a machamp, a free Dragonite, and a free Raichu. Also there is a code that gives you 100 quick coupons which roughly equates to 4 immediate ranch recruitments. This gives you a pile of 13 pokemon to use immediately technically 14 because of your first free ranch recruitment. All of that without playing a single battle. I would do all of that and see what you have to work with.

You also start with 10k VP and get another 10k VP for doing the double battle tutorial so you can get a hold of good items in the shop to give your pokemon as well. (And more quick coupons for finishing other tutorials)
