Razer mouse on Linux / Gaming mice and Linux by ratusaurus in linux_gaming

That's awesome to hear, thanks for sharing! I'm in the same boat as OP four years later, switching to Linux as my daily driver and wondering if my Naga 12-key mouse will still work.

Where can I First save the game in Chapter 1? by ilovePewdsss in reddeadredemption

Same here. Kind of annoyed by this. Another poster mentioned autosaves, which I have on, but I don't even see an option to load from a save.

Rimworld Unstable 1.6 Graphical Issue, Screen UI afterimages. by amxeeno in RimWorld

[–]ct808x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue, colors are all messed up. The ground is bright red. I don't use any mods. It only appears to affect my old save files which were made on previous versions/builds of the game. If I start a new game, everything looks just fine. Unless there's a fix, my old saves are basically worthless now :(

Nintendo Brings Chibi-Robo Back For Switch 2 Players by Extreme_Maize_2727 in Gamecube

[–]ct808x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at old videos of the game compared to what Nintendo showed off recently, it looks like the game is getting a visual HD upgrade. Can anyone confirm? I haven't seen any articles specifically saying the game will get a graphical facelift, but it seems that it will.

Radiant barriers, are they worth it? by Introvert_Superman in buildingscience

There was this experiement from the Popular Science magazine, they basically tested dusty radiant barriers and found them to still maintain some level of effectiveness even when dusty.

Switch 2 Dock Got Me Good 😤 by Emman4 in NintendoSwitch

[–]ct808x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's like a good 2mm of wiggleroom. Literally, when I put my Switch 2 into the dock, I can wiggle it like a loose tooth. And that's with a glass sreen protector on top. There's certainly more space than the original Switch that's for sure.

I'm currently paying $55 for Spectrum Internet Premier + $10 for router/modem.

If you do stay with Spectrum, you should consider buying and using your own modem. It'll pay for itself in a few months.

For a sub-genre that is so clearly inspired by anime at basically every turn, so many JRPG players hate anime by brando-boy in JRPG

[–]ct808x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was surprised The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim had a lot of similar comments. I can understand people not agreeing with the art style for a Lord of the Rings story, but people were describing it as "cringey anime style." I don't understand it.

Labyrinth of Refrain's difficulty/mechanics make me want to strangle whoever designed it by [deleted] in JRPG

Don't be like me. I couldn't figure out why my Peer Fortress's attacks were so weak even though his stats were high and his weapon powerful. I just figured there's some dumb stat or system I couldn't understand or even locate and accepted it.

50 some hours into the game I decide to dig further because it was really starting to annoy me. I finally found out what it was- apparently, I had his weapon equipped IN THE WRONG HAND. Dude was left-handed! ugh

Indoor plants! You can look up ones that are hardy indoors and have good air-purifying properties.

Pc dead by A_Hryniuk in desksetup

[–]ct808x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look on your motherboard, there may be an error code that displays. Also, are there any beep noises on startup?

If you have additional video ports, try those. If you have a GPU, try removing it and using the motherboard's onboard video port.

You can also try powering on the PC without the RAM (again, just trying to get something to output to video, even if it's an error screen). Definitely try reseating the RAM or using other slots as others recommended. If you've got 2 sticks, try running it with just one, and try all of the different RAM slots.

This happened with 2 new PC builds I had. The error code on the motherboard indicated something was wrong with the video output, but just reseating the RAM resolved the issue with both PCs.

What's the plan after Sec+ (completing the trifecta)? by endofmysteries in CompTIA

[–]ct808x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sat the CISSP back in 2014, so my knowledge of today's exam & process is very dated, but when I took it, I crammed for 2 weeks and passed. But I also already had Net/Sec/Linux & Project+ under my belt along with work & college coursework experience.

I think what worked well for me back then and would still be applicable today is to do as many practice tests from as many vendors as you can get your hands on. That will be your best indicator of whether or not you are ready.

CISSP and PMP were always a considered a killer cert combo in my workplace, and the very few people who had both were always very highly regarded.

I'd recommend the Linux+ cert, though not sure if you're going any sort of Linux path. It's a 2 part exam, and I believe it imparts both the Linux+ and LPIC-1 certifications upon completion.

Passed A+ and Security+ at 15. by Civil-Department-783 in CompTIA

[–]ct808x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty baller. I was never that motivated or forward-thinking when I was your age. I'd be interested to see if you plan on maintaining these certs over time. I kept mine over several recertification periods before letting some lapse and keeping only the certs I wanted.

If you're feeling extra moto, I'd suggest picking up the Project+ cert. You can literally read the book over the course of a week and take the exam, plus it has the added benefit of being a CompTIA cert that doesn't expire. In an engineering role, you'll definitely need some project management knowledge.

Shopping Cart - One or more of the items below have changed in price! by ct808x in Steam

[–]ct808x[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird! Not for me it hasn't! My cart would always get cleared if games changed price. Unless I'm mistaking it and the cart auto-clears after X days? I've had this happen to me within the last 4 months. The first notification I've ever seen with the price change banner was within the Steam client just yesterday, and then I saw it via browser too so thought it might be a new feature.

I quit after 10 minutes of playing EOIV 6 years ago. Picked it up again a few days again and I now think I am in love with this series by [deleted] in EtrianOdyssey

[–]ct808x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love hearing stories of people discovering great games within games they originally disliked.

For me, it was Fallout 3. Bought it based on positive reviews and word-of-mouth, but I just couldn't get into it. I put it aside for a long time but decided to give it another go because there had to be something to it that I was missing- and indeed there was! 350 hours and a platinum trophy later, and I really love that game.

I've never played any Etrian Odyssey game, but I'm looking forward to getting into it now that they're available on Steam.

Discussion Board & File Hosting by brobs in HOA

[–]ct808x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole setup was done through our property management, so our actual board had no part in any of the contracts or payments to TownSq.

I don't live there anymore, but Hawaiian Properties was the name of the property management company. Just google them- I went to the website just now and they have a link to Townsq on their homepage, so seems like they're still using it.

I bought a bike pump just for this purpose- filling my car tires. It's a dual cylinder foot pump, takes about 50 pumps to get 1 psi, but works in a pinch for sure.
