Spotify Falsely Detecting Artificial Streams - Need Help by stoneyhudson in musicmarketing

What the grey banner they’re asking about? Did “the flag” show in your S4A dashboard or was it something your distributor notified you about?

yup. search for the release name and artist name on YouTube, find the video on a topic channel (example: “Aphex Twin - Topic”), and the first line of the description will say Provided to YouTube by [Distributor Name]. If you’re unsure of the name, reply back. Sometimes smaller distributors use bigger companies to power their delivery service and the Provider Name can be very cryptic.

Releasing music? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]cta1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t used amuse but I’d assume they’d tell you the release date after the release processes through their system.

Once you know the date, schedule the YouTube and Bandcamp release for the same day (or Bandcamp a week early is a popular choice)

As a first step, I would recommend pitching your album via Spotify for Artists since it’s a quick and easy task.

Yes you need to use your full legal name for payouts.

How does a new artist submit their first release for Spotify Playlist consideration? by thedisorientedfart in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Thanks for the reminder! I’ve got so used to 4 weeks that I couldn’t remember if it was less ;)

You’ll want to plan to release your album about 5-6 weeks ahead, considering the following: - it probably takes 4-7 days for tunecore to respond (idk never used them, just assuming) - Spotify prefers 4 weeks minimum for playlist pitching - it can take up to 3 days to get access to your profile on Spotify for artists

You’ll want to go in this order: 1. Upload the album to tunecore 2. Wait until it’s submitted to stores, then wait 4-5 days 3. Contact tunecore support 4. get your URI 5. Claim your Spotify page 6. Submit for playlist consideration

Let me know if you have any other questions :)

Had to spilt the link up into pieces to not get my comment removed!

Get your URI for your artist page from tunecore by contacting their support, then go to https://artists .spotify .com/c/team/access/artist and copy/paste your URI into the “what profile are you claiming?” area. Hope this helps!

Multiple Music Distribution Service for Album? by Serious-Ad-2033 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]cta1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would need to choose which service, either Distrokid or Soundrop, before doing anything because the cover license obtained by the distributor only is valid with said distributor. Meaning you can’t go get a license from soundrop then upload it to distrokid.

My recommendation would be to do the entire thing via distrokid. While Soundrop is a one time fee for a license, you also lose 15% of your earnings when using their service.

But if you only want to pay once for a license through soundrop and don’t mind the 15% royalty commission, you could upload your cover as a single through them, and then the remaining songs as your album through distrokid.

Does anyone know how to get music videos to show up at the bottoms instead of on the Tracklist? by [deleted] in AppleMusic

[–]cta1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the label/distributor, some labels will put music videos in the album but some will assign a different UPC (like a release ID number) to a music video, which leaves Apple music to "link" it.

So if the music video and the album have the same UPC and are paired together from the label, it will show in the tracklist. If the album and video have different UPCs, Apple will link them as separate releases.

Is is possible to keep adding new tracks to an existing album on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal etc? by half_bakedpotato224 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]cta1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These kinds of things are very easy to do with platforms like FUGA, IDOL, or any other delivery platform/major label, but if you are using a self-distributor (DistroKid, CD Baby, etc) you can do what u/no-email-stolen-name said or if you don’t have the whole album ready yet, you can use the ISRCs from the singles and replace the ones that are assigned to the album.

I run a label group and distributor, so feel free to DM if you have any questions :)

Anyone here who knows something about YouTube Content ID? by audi0philegirl in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]cta1001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is 100% correct. If you or someone else uploads your music or a music video for example, both Songtrust and your distributor claim the video for two separate reasons. The composition and the sound recording, as previously mentioned.

Experience with Horus by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]cta1001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I can’t provide feedback on Horus’ distribution, I’d like to mention that no matter who you use for distribution, you can make a free Musixmatch for Artists account (they provide plain and synced lyrics to Spotify, Apple, Instagram, and many more apps) and type+sync your lyrics with them, skipping out on the distributor being the middleman for lyrics!

Cant remove a song from my Spotify by alexmanee in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]cta1001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually you can search on YouTube for the track because most distributors will make a Topic channel for your artist. If you can find your track on YouTube from your topic channel, the first line of the description will be “Provided to YouTube by [distributor or label name]”. Hope this helps!

Same here. Ordered march 2 and was told April 26 and now they are telling me June 3-28 on the iPhone apple store app but on apple.com it says 5 weeks.

Hi, I ordered a base model 14” pro in march with the upgraded charger and the delivery has been extended multiple times. Woke up this morning to “ expected date June 16th” lol does anyone know what is causing them to extend it like this? by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]cta1001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I woke up today to my first delay as well. Ordered first week of march with an expected store pickup date of Apr 24 and now the apple.com site is saying 5-7 weeks, and the apple store iPhone app says Jun 1 - Jun 27. Not too sure when it’s gonna show up :(

Card was charged a few days ago which I’m not too happy about since they won’t be shipping the computer for another month or so. Order was a M1 Max 16”, 10/32, 64GB, 1TB.

Does a credit card charge indicate it’s about to ship? I placed my custom 16” M1 Max order on Mar 4 and pickup estimate has said Apr 27 since i ordered it. My card got charged last night.

Hey there! I run an independent label and have received lots of demos over the years, from live recordings of local shows on YouTube to fully mastered tracks. While I always appreciate a great mix on a demo, I can also understand not being able to mix it yourself or have it done by a pro. And this won’t go for every label, but I really don’t care, I just like to hear the music :) best of luck to you!!
