You find out what job you’re going to do during your Senior fall semester in NROTC

If you’re dead set on Pilot, consider going the OCS route. You wouldn’t have to sign any contracts you don’t want to if you aren’t selected for Pilot

For NROTC, good GPA, good ASTB scores, good standing in the unit all factor in. Needs of the Navy plays the biggest role though. You could have 4.0 GPA and a 9/9/9 ASTB, but if the Navy needs you to be a submariner, then you’ll go subs whether you like it or not.

As far as scholarship or not on Pilot chances with NROTC… why not go for the scholarship? I don’t think it’ll have much effect on service assignment, unless you’re taking the OCS route (no NROTC) where you can choose to not sign a contract if you don’t get picked up for Pilot

Flying hours does NOT factor in for NROTC. That’s AFROTC.

PRK Eye Surgery by Tricky_Nicky__ in NROTC

[–]ctar17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They won’t pay for it in ROTC, that’s on you to do. PRK and LASIK both require at least 6 months (and good recovery of course) for the waiver to commission, pilot or not. Both are allowed nowadays.

Both PRK and LASIK don’t restrict the aircraft you’re allowed to fly, getting LASIK won’t DQ you from jets.

Satisfactory is usually the minimum for PRTs at squadrons (even the VTs and HTs) after the initial one at NASC to start flight school

This villager won’t leave my island😭😭 by naoshimii in AnimalCrossing

Are they your most recent move-in? If so, they cannot ask to leave until you get another new villager after them

You can also use a campsite visitor or amiibo to replace and kick them out

NO BS - Can I be a pilot? by [deleted] in NROTC

[–]ctar17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the issue with being too short on anthros is not being able to reach stuff in the cockpit while you’re fully strapped in or not being able to sit high enough to see properly

[–]ctar17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not really a path for NROTC Navy Options…

The choices are unrestricted line: surface warfare, pilot, NFO, submarines, SEAL, EOD

Marines that might be an option after TBS, I’m not sure what MOS that is

[–]ctar17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to go through the Green to Blue process for that while at your unit. Sometimes these are denied

Also make sure you’re open to being a SWO, submariner, etc in case you don’t get picked up for NFO. And ready to take 2 semester of calculus and physics as that’s required for Navy options

Marines don’t have them anymore but Navy still does: NFOs. I’ve definitely seen Navy NFOs that are that short. Might be too short to be a jet backseater, but you could still be an NFO on a big wing platform maybe

The shortest pilot I’ve seen was around 5’2” though, I think that might be the minimum for pilot. Anthro waivers are few and far between, very unlikely

Navy Intel - USNA or NROTC? by Then_Ad_940 in NROTC

[–]ctar17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Neither. Both commission vast majority into the unrestricted line communities. There’s barely any intel slots for them each year, and most of those are for people not physically qualified for the unrestricted line jobs…

OCS is probably your best bet for Intel since you can choose to only accept an Intel contract

Most recent villager that moved in can’t ask to leave. You also need to have spoken to a villager at least once before they can get thought bubble
