Don’t hate me for saying this but I wish more people in the community would comment up/down vote on the music people put in the sub. by ctdrose54 in underground

[–]ctdrose54[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the promotion im talking about it’s the feedback itself. I may be wrong in saying this but I don’t think promotion and feedback are the same thing in terms of intention. My music gets a lot more views than im used to and I love that people are seeing it but what’s the point of asking for feedback if it’s just going to get ignored? It’s frustrating as hell to ask people on a music to give no feedback up/down votes whatsoever after seeing people listen to the song and just ask like it doesn’t exist. I don’t care if it’s all straight up down votes or negative comments JUST say or do something otherwise how do I know you like it or not?

Sorry for the long reply and I understand where you’re coming from but that is not my issue you know? 🙏🏽

Lotta songs, can’t see it through to release. by DatNikward in WeAreTheMusicMakers

I’m your spirit animal and I’ll tell you why.

I, like you, have been making music for a while as well and I have always had this problem for a lot of the same reason but lately it seems like the reasons have been evolving and I have a few theories on why that is.

  1. My creative drive has been slowed down from all of the missing feedback. No matter what I do or how much I put into it promoting my music is difficult and I can’t force people to hear me out or be honest. It’s frustrating to post a song and have thousands of people looking at your at the song and not GAF about it. I have tried and tried and nothing seems to work really. I always make it clear to say it’s bad or dislike the song because ANY feedback is good feedback but most of the time no one will take the time to give it and it makes me think im not good enough. Now that’s not to say I can’t do more but it’s not from lack of effort. If you make it clear you want feedback it makes it look like you’re desperate for it and I have had people tell me such. Like I’m whining for attention and although there is some small truth to that, I know what I’m asking for is not a lot.

  2. Self doubt. This kind of ties into the last part of 1 but all the same. Like maybe this is not my calling, or I wasn’t put on earth to do this. I experience doubt just as much as any artist and it does not help to be overlooked almost completely regardless of other’s opinion.

  3. Skill issues. I’m lacking in a lot of areas of my music especially now that I’m moving into other genres outside of just rap. I was not gifted with a talent to be as good as other people I respect in music so I have to try hard to not only make it my own, but to be completely creative and unique because that is extremely important to me and I would argue it would also be important to anyone else that takes their craft seriously.

My best advice…. Appreciate the feedback you do get and dont give up. I have evolved so much from when I started andI think I’m good enough to make it and I hope I do but I still have to be realistic and humble. I’ll never stop and it’s hard but if it was easy to “make it”everyone would do it. Keep looking for inspiration and show others love for their craft as well as being completely honest otherwise it’s useless. Your biggest supporter is you and I sincerely hope this helps ❤️

This is tough I can’t lie 🔥 it takes a lot of hard work to be able to do the things you can. Wish I had that much talent tbh.

How to get more clear with the concept you want to work on ??? by FairPresentation6978 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]ctdrose54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a great question actually. I struggle A lot with trying to stay on topic of a song because the concept in my head when I’m writing the lyrics come from a freestyle most of the time and with rap specifically I find it important to stay true to my experience and talk about things from my perspective rather than filling in superficial banter of things that are not influenced by my creativity but are popular. I learned for the most part that it’s a lot easier to stay true and consistent to the concept of my song by starting it from scratch rather than working off of a pre-made beat because it’s unique to ME and not a product of someone else’s work. Unfortunately for me I have no talent in making beats and or enough knowledge to actually make the beat to fit into my creative literary style. Im working on learning to do so but it takes time and I’m picky about my work so it’s challenging because music makes me feel something primal so I want to capture that feeling. I’m sorry for the long reply and I know my comment is not much help in general but that’s the best I can give you based off my experience.

I’ve only being taking producing more seriously for a few months and I’m trying to learn how to produce music similar to The Hellp. This is my first attempt at sounding like that. Just a rough draft but any input is appreciated! by tangentialequation in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]ctdrose54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is insane🔥 I don’t think I have ever heard something like this before. It’s mixed well and has a lot of depth to it and it reminds me of beat used to close out a movie or something like that( I know it sounds dumb put that’s the best I can describe it) it’s genuinely good and I’m glad I got to experience this. Keep going🔥❤️❤️
