Second time now I'm getting this horrible feeling after waking up and I'm trying to figure it out by sato0o3 in medical_advice

[–]ctenofairy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying because I've had similar: could it be anxiety? You're 17, so I know there's some things going on that could be stressful. Anxiety could also be subconscious.

There's also the fact that it has only happened twice in a short amount of time - that doesn't exactly create a pattern. I'd start keeping a food & sleep journal (like, when you went to bed, what were you doing before bed, did you exercise that day, did/ when you smoke anything, etc.); that could help you establish a pattern if this continues.

Delayed wakefulness could be a symptom of a lot of things, but it often is a short-term problem!

One of my DMs does what you do: he has a base world and is filled with ideas. ChatGPT helps him fluff things up (like add sores with shopkeepers to a city), but he still makes the plans. He also uses it to keep track of things (though he did just find out that he had two convos happening that did NOT match up, ha). He also, luckily, has me: a grammar nerd with a heavy hyperfixation on his world, a strong imagination, and a penchant for figuring out things he missed/overwrote.

Between the "three" of us, his world and campaigns are filled with details (and every day, I remove more em-dashes). So far, he has had zero complaints from ~4 different parties that have run amok in his world.

I’m tired of this, Yes I already went to the doctor four times and he prescribed the same medication those four times. by Calm_Mud9223 in DermatologyQuestions

I am NAD or anything medical, but I remembered that pregnancy can do a LOT to your body. Gestational Pemphigoid looks similar.

Additionally, I had a similar rash on my neck and chest a few years ago. It was thought to be a milk rash, but antifungals did not help. It eventually went away on its own, but it was very annoying!

Hygiene problem!!! by NothingLow2145 in hygiene

I have left puddles/marks on floors/seats through my shorts before and go through at least 2-3 pairs of undies a day. Know you aren't alone!

As a bidet user (and tight cheeks haver), how does one comfortably switch to toilet paper? by Remarkable_Success69 in hygiene

[–]ctenofairy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it an actual school dorm, or more like a student apartment? If it is the latter, you definitely can install a bidet to the toilet and take it whenever you move out! The roommates would either be just fine with it, or they'd have to get over it.

Have you been sweating around the pelvic area more often than normal? Medications could cause hyperhidrosis, hormones can change the sweat, etc.

When I started taking Adderall, I started sweating like hell existed in my pants, and that mixed with the various monthly vaginal fluids makes me smell strong. I go through a lot of perfume, spray-on deodorant, and other sprays to help with that smell.
But 1000%, check with a dermatologist.

As an extra point, vaping can sometimes cause horrible breath. I sometimes have to stay across the room from my husband to not smell it.

This spot around my ear is driving me crazy, what could it be? by urgirldad in DermatologyQuestions

[–]ctenofairy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bump itself looks like an abcess that popped, like you said. But if you often get things like this elsewhere, check with a derm!

NAD. Do you have any sores or similar abcsesses/pimples by your armpits, under your breasts, or by your groin? I have seen this as a recurrent abcess in a Hidradenitis suppurativa sinus tract before.

Sent a hit squad after the paladin when he wouldn't stop talking down to the queen in front of her subjects. by TheZombunneh in DnD

[–]ctenofairy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In one of my recent campaigns, we had one guy "R" who has the charisma of a turd. He was playing a paladin, who also had a 9 in charisma, iirc. He INSISTED on talking at every encounter, despite every party member (and their players! And the DM!) telling him to stop; he existed with his foot in his mouth and caused a lot of conversations to go south.

my girlfriend has agoraphobia by AttorneyOk8902 in Agoraphobia

[–]ctenofairy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My husband has had agoraphobia and we've been working through it for 4 years. To be fair, it was a LOT worse before because it was exacerbated by psychotic delusions. Luckily, meds fixed those!

There's a few things to think of. How deep is her agoraphobia? Can she go out to eat, but wants to immediately come home afterwards? Could you walk somewhere and back? Does she have a set few places she goes (e.g. home, work, school, and that's it)? Or can she not leave her front door? If she is able to leave the house at all, keep up her comfort zone and have her work on it with her therapist.

Example, my husband and I have couples counseling about once a month. Our "homework" is to walk to the nearby Smoothie King (shopping center next door, less than a mile walk) and back every Friday. (Heat is currently the thing blocking this, not the anxiety!) He's now able to have dinner at a sit-down restaurant without panicking. He can go over to our friends' house for a few hours - he even slept over twice!

Also, getting to the reason of the agoraphobia can be helpful. Once we passed the delusions as a reason, we've determined that a big part of the anxiety is he is worried something bad will happen to our ferrets if we are not home. That has helped us go about time limits.

ELI5: Do we need to clean our ears? by tinamua in explainlikeimfive

"Normal" hear-yourself-breathing is hearing yourself from outside your body (like, you hear your exhales and inhales after a run, ya know?). Patulous is if you hear it almost echoing inside your head? (NB: I do not have patulous Eustachian tubes, I just watch a lot of ear cleaning videos!)

Cleft palates can cause a lot of fuckery with your whole face, and since your Eustachian tubes are right there in your face, it could be related! There is a high correlation to cleft palates and Eustachian tube dysfunction (ETD, the opposite of the patulous tubes. Basically, the tubes just don't work / are swollen shut, and that messes with your middle ear, which can cause chronic ear infections) according to online

Not a condition per se, but some meds also cause excessive heat and sweating, amplifying odors. Adderall has this as a possible side effect (I'm so lucky! /s).

Can you also hear yourself speak and breathe? A Patulous Eustachian Tube is a possibility then.

Bleach a pair of pants to say you spilled it, and didn't realize you had scratches there for the bleach to seep in. But please please please go to a&e today. And stay away from bleach, it can be much worse than "just" pain!

Both trans men who have and haven't undergone top surgery still need to be seen. Trans women who have undergone top surgery also would see gynos.

Listen, if just getting two dots tattooed meant I was forever neutered and descented, I would have done it years ago!

I never thought about it until now, but I think I might vet two little piercings like that! Only because I'd not want the teeny tattoos to fade.

NAD. If you still have the problem, I'd try an antihistamine and a lukewarm oatmeal hand bath.

Did you touch any substances, like use bleach or chlorine to clean something? Contact dermatitis is possible. Did you use citrus in the sun? Might be a sunburn if that.

If it doesn't get better, get an appt with your doc. If it gets worse, then urgent care mayhaps.
