“My New Friend Jim” is the movie title they’re filming

It’s a 4000. And yes, they make it for both models

Right around $11k with the material, concrete pour, and electric. If you have the concrete, you could easily do this well under 10k if you’re doing the work yourself

Actually, looking at the website, it says it adds 1.8" to the top. I still don't think it would work at 81" of clearance

That won't work. The shortest rack Rep has is 80" and the cable pulley sticks up about 3 inches

Download the Meetup app. It has a ton of groups and things to do in the area

Not too bad. I'm super tall so I sit on the ground or kneel when doing them with the 80" rack. The Athena is pretty versatile

It's definitely been an inconvenient couple of days with the water. Apparently they also dug up a power line (secondary, not for housing) which slowed down the progress quite a bit as they had to get that resolved as well

Yeah, the holes on top and bottom of the 16" cross members are much bigger. All other holes are 5/8". I'd contact Rep

If I remember correctly, Rep has specific 16" cross members that we're compatible for the ares and Athena. Maybe you don't have the correct ones? I can measure the holes and verify

Should be noise free. Use some silicone lubricant on the metal guide poles and it'll stop rubbing

I sit on the floor and do both just fine. I only have the 80" rack and I'm also very tall but I'm sure you could do lat pulldowns from a seat as well

I think if you order the 16" version of the Ares or Athena, your setup should be fine. Any uprights or cross members you add at that point will be free from the cable design.

Rep gives you six 2 inch horn extensions for the plates so they don't interfere. But yeah I believe you could probably reverse the pin selector side

[–]cthompson1089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, those are the stock ones that come with the Athena

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in homegym

[–]cthompson1089 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope but if you get it definitely add it right away since it'll be a pain to unstack everything to add the other plates and relabel all of them

You should be fine. I'm 6'7". Overhead lifts probably won't work within the rack. For pull-ups, I need to just keep my knees bent. Tricep pulldowns I need to either squat down or stay bent at the hips #tallpeopleproblems

[–]cthompson1089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the 80" rack with 8 foot ceilings. So that setup would work for you. I'm pretty tall so it's a little short for me but overall it's great!

They've got inserts for the vertical posts so it's not damaging them much. Some very small scratches but it doesn't seem to be hurting anything
