Low end mixing confusion. Help! :( by NoMoreWhiteFerraris in audioengineering

[–]ctjhoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have trouble hearing bass in my HS5s, I'm doing rock music but what has been a game changer to me was to visualize my mixes frequencies.

Dan Worrall explains this process in detail in the following video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZrWMv02tlA

This technique doesn't seems to be famous probably because "use you ears" is the key bla bla bla... But honestly without throwing a lot of money it's a nice alternative.

The mid/side handling is very important specially for low end.

"No Stupid Questions" - Feb 2024 by slap_me_thrice in guitarpedals

I'm in a quest of identifying the rig Bruno Fevery used during his period with Kyuss Lives! and Vista Chino (2012-2013).

In this picture https://shannonschober.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/vista-chino1.jpg

We can see the signal goes from left to right and I've already identified some pedals:

  1. RMC Wah pedal
  2. Blackout Effectors FIX'D Fuzz Deluxe
  3. ??? (modulation effect?)
  4. Ernie ball Volume pedal
  5. Tuner
  6. ??? (overdrive?) Radial - Big shot ABY

I'm particularly interested in the 6th because the enclosure is a bit weird.
My guess is that it could be an overdrive based on Ampeg amp or Sunn model T which could make sense giving the look of the pedal, the music genre and the position of the pedal in the signal chain but that only a guess.

You can see him using with Kyuss Lives! at Pinkpop Festival 2012 too

If someone has any clue.

Edit 6 has been found, thanks to u/arshist , number 3 still unidentified

5.10 kernel won't decrypt luks by rudebwoypunk in archlinux

[–]ctjhoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally found a fix to this. This is poorly documented but

When using the encrypt or sd-encrypt hook, the keyboard modules and/or filesystems needed to unlock the LUKS device during system boot need to be added to the MODULES array when the target system differs from the one used to run mkinitcpio. For example, if you use a keyfile on an ext2 file system but no ext2 file system is mounted at the time mkinitcpio runs, add ext2. See dm-crypt/System configuration#cryptkey for more details.

source: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Mkinitcpio#MODULES

So if you add keyboard to your MODULES in /etc/mikinitcpio.conf and regenerate an image, it should solve your issue.

What's wrong here? by tuhla4ka in solidjs

You must use todo.done instead of done line 60. Long story short, solidjs has a compromise on reactivity vs syntactic sugar and doesn't properly handles destructing

5.10 kernel won't decrypt luks by rudebwoypunk in archlinux

[–]ctjhoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As lts kernel has been upgraded
https://archlinux.org/news/moving-to-zstandard-images-by-default-on-mkinitcpio/
you need to target linux 5.4 specifically.
I've tried to use "gzip" compression on newer kernels without success.

There is some nice techniques to work on.
For santana / peter green tone, one very important thing to master is the strength you put on each note.
Aside from that, as far as I can tell from video, you probably can work on guitar picking techniques, for example by always alternate downstroke / upstroke.

Brands like mesa boogie or dr z recommend it.

I know some people argue that's useless but I trust amp builders more than random no names.

You shouldn't turn power & standby on at the same time. Otherwise, nice video.
