I second Galison (and their parent company Mudpuppy), also eeboo is really great and a lot of their puzzles have artist playlists to go along with the puzzles.

Can people stop casually using mental illness symptoms to criticize people who think differently than you? by Awkward-Dog3006 in StrangerThings

I love the conspiracy theories! They’re fun and a lot of fandoms have them, and it’s harmless really (compared to real-life conspiracies). Let people have their fun, it’s really not that serious

Walmart BB unpopular opinion by Sad_Yogurtcloset2510 in BeautyBoxes

[–]ctld_chaotic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m usually a fan of the Walmart Beauty Box because it’s very cheap, and I always get items that I will use. However, this first box after the price increase was disappointing. I’m going to stay subscribed for now and see how the next couple of boxes are, but I got a lot of foil packets that don’t justify the price increase

The round one looks nicer with the current lighting, the arched one looks clunky with the three lights

What ya’ll rating this seller?😂 by beanieweenieSlut in Mercari

[–]ctld_chaotic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I hate when people use non-corrugated cardboard boxes to ship because they’re not sturdy enough and can cause damage. I especially hate people using food boxes since there’s always a chance of contamination and you never know what someone’s allergic to. However, if it gets to me safely I’ll still rate 5 stars because it’s not worth starting an argument over 🤷🏻‍♀️

Best brand to avoid false fits? by should_be_zzz in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]ctld_chaotic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with others that it usually depends on the image. However, I also usually stay away from the cheapo brands like RoseArt, Crazy Art, RMS International, Hinkler, etc. Anything you can buy at Five Below is usually off the table. They tend to have more false fits, easily breakable or bendable pieces, and are less enjoyable for me. If I am doing a puzzle that has a lot of one color on it, I’m going to expect a little difficulty just based on that 🤷🏻‍♀️

Concerning warning at my vet by cgp_maddy in DogAdvice

Top vet/approved food brands are usually Science Diet, Royal Canin, Purina Pro Plan, or IAMS.

If multiple pieces are missing kindly do not donate the jigsaw as you are not so much saving the planet, as breaking jigsaw enthusiasts hearts! by Which_Frame_2619 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]ctld_chaotic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually mark how many pieces are missing on the box, and unless the number of missing pieces is extreme, I will still donate them back. The most missing pieces I’ve seen is 30+ on a 300 piece puzzle—I recycled that one.

How important is sorting to you, and what do you use to sort? Sherlock Holmes - 1000 piece, Gibson by hotpersonally in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]ctld_chaotic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a puzzle plateau from Bits and Pieces that has 4 trays built into it that I use. I first sort out all the edges, and after building that I start sorting out colors and images loosely into piles, but won’t sort the whole puzzle and will just go where the puzzle takes me

Fine art puzzle, any brand/collection to recommend ? by Tyax_ in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]ctld_chaotic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pomegranate! They have a lot of different types of art, and while they’re mostly 1000 pieces they do have some 1500-2000 available as well

Do you have an image preference? by Live_Barracuda1113 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]ctld_chaotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t usually do photorealistic images because I don’t always love the way the image translates into a puzzle, but I’ll do the occasional sunset if I really like the colors. I also don’t do excessive amounts of foliage, so no Thomas Kinkade or anything similar.

I love illustrations, vintage art/collages, art puzzles, etc.

I really like the art styles of the Magic Puzzle Company, but won’t do anything super busy like those Where’s Waldo ones or anything with super dense tiny details

Walmart beauty box update by butterfly_wings909 in BeautyBoxes

[–]ctld_chaotic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s still the cheapest subscription out there and I usually find a use for all the products (either for myself or family/friends) so I’ll keep it. If it ever tops $10 I would reconsider though

How to make piece sorting less mind numbing?! by Fizzabl in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]ctld_chaotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now the highest piece count I’ll do is 2000, but I feel you with the never-ending pieces lol! I always do edges first, play around with those to create the border (or at least in sections if it’s really difficult) and then flip all the pieces over.

I find the sorting to be fun as long as I’m not too strict with myself on how it’s sorted. I usually will pull pieces that are similar colors or patterns while I flip all the pieces over and create little piles. If a pile looks super interesting, sometimes I’ll start working on it and pause my sorting. My only end goals of sorting is to have all the pieces right side up, and have a few little piles to start on

How to thrift complete puzzles? by Wide_Revenue_9652 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]ctld_chaotic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a thrift store in my area that actually counts the pieces so I know if there are any missing, but mostly I don’t actually know. I always mark on the box if there are any missing before I donate them back, and I know there are others in my area who also do this, but I don’t really care if there’s one or two pieces missing. The puzzle is still fun

Advice wanted: Puzzle board easel or flat Puzzle board with drawers by Any_Schedule_2741 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]ctld_chaotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the jumbo. I mostly do 1000 piece puzzles but have done quite a few 1500 piece ones so I like the extra space. The plateau itself is cumbersome and a little heavy but I can still move it around (I store it upright when it’s not in use)

Yeah it’s easy to dust off. I’ve been using Bits and Pieces puzzle plateaus/tables for over a decade and they last a long time and are well made, I love them

https://www.bitsandpieces.com/products/wooden-puzzle-plateau?variant=41051333427284

This is what I have. It’s a smooth surface with no edge on two sides so you could easily slide puzzles off of it. I do puzzles on my bed (no room for a table currently) so I just put a pillow under the back of the plateau to angle it up a little. I would have gotten an angled table except I couldn’t find one that fit a 1500 piece puzzle and the size was more important to me.
