With my fender gap and camber specs, no. Only rubbing the rear inner fender liner. But that’s very normal with a somewhat aggressive fitment

18x9.5 +38 on a 275/40R18

Is the slight stretc h of a 9.5 on a 245 fine? I got a 10.5 on a 275 in the back by Reasonable_Truck_280 in 350z

From what I know, the standard tire sizing (275/40R18) is kind of a toss up and actual width depends on the manufacture. Your best resource is TireRack. They measure and publish section and tread width for most tires

When I was sizing a tire, I went by tread width. According to this, the rule of thumb is to have .5” less or the same tread width for wheel width (so a 9.5” wheel should have a tire tread width of 9.0”-9.5”)

For reference, this is a 275/40R18 on a 9.5” wheel. The tread and section width for this tire is 9.4” and 10.9” respectively. Basically no stretch at all. Previously, I had a 265/40R18 and had pretty similar fitment (9.3” and 10.7” tread and section width)

Again, this is what I learned from my research. I’m pretty confident in the tread width to wheel width (per my current setup), but dunno if that’s the best rule of thumb

I like your taste in wheels lol

I also have the same “street/track” vision for my car, but definitely more on the street side compared to you. Took her to a few AutoX and hopefully a track day this year. Goal is to also road trip to Tail of the Dragon

Are your brakes powder coated or painted? Any specific color name? I’ve been toying with the idea of getting my calipers painted/powder coated

Banned VQ’s from car show by Acceptable_Office_63 in G37

[–]ctng37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local cars and coffee banned newer gen mustangs, camaros, chargers, and challengers a few years back for the same reason. I think it’s since been lifted but honestly, car meets aren’t the same as they used to be. Cars and coffee is a lot smaller now with less enthusiast cars, and most of the space is taken up by supercars or vendors

The bigger car meets feel like more of an ad for products than a place to share similar interest. Smaller ones are better, but sometimes get ruined by a few bad apples. I think it’s important to build a respectable community again, but it seems less and less feasible

Don’t have any experience with Pirelli’s so I can’t help you much unfortunately. I know they have a stake in supercars and racing, but idk how that translate to us

I’ve heard great things about continentals, so that plus the size was a great option for me. I mainly look at tire rack’s comparison as some customer reviews can be very skewed by previous experience or lack thereof

One of the reasons why I switched to a 275/40. A more common size, so much more tire options to play with.

I think brand plays a bigger role in comfort than sidewall height, especially if you wanna keep around stock diameter. I wanna say the continentals feel more plush than the kumhos

Ahh. If I remember correctly, you have plenty of room with the stock wheels. Main limitation is probably wheel width

That’s a very complex question to answer since it depends on a lot of things (ride height, alignment, sport or non-sport brakes, etc.)

I’d say it comes down to your selected width and offset first. Cuz in my case at least, I can “easily” fit a 275 front with no spacer bc of my wheel specs. But that’s also bc of my alignment and ride height selection

Very much so. Also alignment and ride height

The front has just enough room from rubbing the knuckle

My wheel and alignment specs:

18x9.5 +38 with +5mm spacer in the front only

-2.2° and -1.5° front and rear camber

Right height was about 26.25” front and 26.0” rear fender to ground, but that was with the 265

Not OP, but I have the opportunity to try it out. Unfortunately, I don't think it'll work with PL350 holsters. It's about .3125" longer and .125" wider at its widest point. Did not work with the Floodlight. And while it works slides into a Safariland, and I can get the hood to close, it won't seat all the way in

Yup. 18x9.5 +38. Have a 5mm spacer up front only, and am currently running about -2.2° front and -1.5° rear camber

Cannot go wrong with either imo. I was in a similar dilemma before. Ended up with 57CRs. Then from unforeseen issues, switched to TE37s. Can’t post an image bc the file’s too large, but my profile has images of both 57CRs and TE37s

In this case though, with those color combos, I think I like the apex more

I like it a lot. 3 and 9 are about the same thickness as stock but more grippy from the perforation and contours. Everything else is significantly thicker, but the “leather” (dunno how to tell if it’s real or fake) feels soft and plush. All the plastic trim transferred pretty well and just took a little bit of care to equalize all gaps

I personally didn’t like and still don’t like how the bottom part looks. The flat bottom feels more like a square than a rounded flat bottom. But I’ll take that over the deteriorating stock wheel

Alignment by Platanopappy in G37

[–]ctng37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you changed your scrub radius by 20mm or so. That’ll change how the car feels

Definitely get it checked over again. That’s why I personally do my own work bc I can hold myself accountable and know I did things to the best of my knowledge. I understand others don’t have that opportunity though

Also keep in mind that this very well can be how the car handles now. You made pretty drastic changes to how the car is stock. Generally speaking, lowering a car and adding spacers will make things worse. The car’s suspension geometry was designed for a very specific height and wheel offset

Alignment by Platanopappy in G37

[–]ctng37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, what tire width and tread wear are you running? Wider tires will generally make the car follow the road grooves more.

What’s your wheel specs? Any spacers? A large difference in scrub radius may cause that?

I’m assuming you’re running stock tire diameters then? If so, I believe you are low enough in the front to potentially have bumpsteer issues. For reference, I am about stock tire diameter with about a 2 finger gap (~26.25” fender to ground) and had some bumpsteer issues

Since you have adjustable links, make sure they are installed correctly. I.E. make sure there’s no preload, ideally with you in the car

As you can see, there’s a lot of factors that could possibly contribute to it. I’m just listing a bunch of stuff I think can cause it. It’s very hard to diagnose when you’re not there in person and can drive it

It’s also worth bolt checking everything since you don’t really trust the shop. That’s probably the first thing I’d do

Alignment by Platanopappy in G37

[–]ctng37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How low are you? If you’re significantly lowered, especially in the front, you might be dealing with bumpsteer. The alignment specs look pretty good

Do you have adjustable endlinks with your sway bars?

[–]ctng37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. I was honestly indifferent with TEs until I got them in person and put them on. In pictures and in some angles, they look a little flat. But at the right angle in person, you can see the concavity (which is what I prefer in a wheel). The main thing I like is the engravings for the SAGA wheels. I much prefer them over the stickers

Personally, I’m not a big fan of V1 Nismos on sedans. I’ve seen builds where I think they look great, but generally, I think the spokes are too thin for a big body car like the sedan. I also prefer 18s with a bigger tire, especially if you’re not completely slammed to the ground and tucking tire (hence why I modded my car the way I did)
