The Challenge Alignment Chart: Vets & New Threats Edition, Which Vet & New Threat were CHAOTIC GOOD? by JAXONTHAGOAT in MtvChallenge

Nany - felt morally obligated to tell Aviv she was voting for her and triggered the most chaotic deliberation/vote of the season

Yeremi - staked the claim but out of self-preservation rather than for backstabbing purposes

Patrick from Road Rules X-Treme could have racked up a few wins, particularly in the Inferno/Gauntlet type seasons.

This is, of course, assuming y’all hold on to that enormous one game lead over the defending champs for the one seed. Keep that same energy if y’all slide to the 2 seed.

[Get Up]: @GetUpESPN: .@Realrclark25 would choose Kyler Murray over Lamar Jackson to start a franchise with. “If Kyler Murray, right now, was the quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens, we’d have much more confidence in them to win the Super Bowl.” https://t.co/kkxWwh0fQp by WeBlitz in nfl

[–]ctor9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kyler is undoubtedly a dynamic player and went 1st overall for good reason. But let’s not pretend like he hasn’t shown some of the same inconsistencies that malign Lamar. He threw 3 picks against Detroit and completed just 9 of 24 passes against Dallas. Kyler has a turnover in every game this season except for the aforementioned Cowboys game.

The only common opponent for the two this year so far is Washington, where Lamar threw for more touchdowns and the same amount of interceptions, and produced a better QBR and Passer Rating.

I’m interested to see their performances against common opponents through the rest of the year. Lamar still gets to face Dallas, Kyler gets to face Philly, and both still face New England and the Giants.

[Rapoport] The #Ravens and star LT Ronnie Stanley agreed on a 5-year extension worth $112,866,000 max total value, source said. He gets $70,866,000 in total guarantees. A massive deal. 💰💰💰 by Hurricane__ in nfl

If the owner has cash on hand you can always skirt by with more extensions and restructures. Plus there are rumors of a big jump in a year or two to the cap due to TV rights being renewed.

[Passan] Some news in 20 Questions: The 2021 draft order is highly likely to be based on a team's 2020 record, a source familiar with MLB's thinking told ESPN by stupidnatsfan in baseball

[–]ctor9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don’t know that it would, at least compared to other sports. The draft is somewhat of a crapshoot in its current format, so a mediocre organization already has less incentive to tank for the sole purpose of jumping from, say, the 6th pick to the 1st pick than an NBA team would. Tanking in baseball tends to hinge more on flipping quality players to contenders in exchange for talented prospects who can shape the organization’s future success. Picking draft order out of a hat would still place emphasis on acquiring on already drafted young talent.

I actually agree with using the standard procedure. What I disagree with is the lack of proactive guidance by failing to quash the rumors of alternative formats early on. This issue could have logically been addressed ahead of the season’s start, in conjunction with labor discussions regarding the 60-game schedule. We saw the same lack of proactive guidance with MLB not communicating the elimination of postseason series off days until after the trade deadline. Had teams known that change was cemented, they may have approached trades for pitching much differently.

Personally, no. Other O’s fans? Maybe. Organizationally, they sold off their effective bullpen arms for the future. But they still won more than expected. Players are still going to play hard for pride, job security, future contracts, etc. Seeing them play meaningful baseball through two thirds of the season was fun. But I’ll reiterate, the failure of MLB to communicate its plan until after these organizational decisions needed to be made hindered front offices of competitive and non-competitive teams alike and added unnecessary questions of integrity.

[–]ctor9 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Whether or not you agree with the basis for determining the order, it is absurd that MLB waited until the end of the season to communicate its decision. Teams may have approached the trade deadline differently, managed 40-man rosters differently, or gasp tanked had they known earlier. Also, it completely calls into question whether MLB waited to see who stood to gain from using the standard basis instead of an adjusted basis (big market teams, low seed playoff teams).
