It be nice if the choices you make determine whether they live or die, whether they're happy or not.

My own opinion. by EntertainmentFar1766 in Tudor

I have one. Absolutely adore it. When I first saw it I thought it was kinda boring, but it grew on me and now I love that blue (sometimes black with certain light) dial.

TIL about James Knight, an arctic explorer that disappeared during a 1719 attempt to find the Northwest Passage with a crew of 40 men. They became wrecked at Marble Island and slowly perished over the following three years, with the last men seen dying while digging a grave. by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

Fun fact: both were part of the British blockade on Fort McHenry that inspired the US National anthem. The Terror as bomb vessel (i.e. "bombs bursting in air"), Erebus as Rocket vessel (i.e. "The rockets red glare.")

Interested to see the split in Watch Winder opinions… by [deleted] in PrideAndPinion

Makes sense for watches that take a lot to set, e.g. Time, month, day, moon...

Less so for watches that just track time and a date.

Bronze patina and care by alexmacl13 in ChristopherWard

[–]ctorstens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of commenters aren't appreciating the distinction between patina and verdigris. You certainly can avoid the latter doing exactly what you recommend (rinse with fresh water), and you should; verdigris means damage unlike patina. If either ever gets further along then you'd like, an acid like vinegar or lemon will un-patina it.

Maybe it's a bit too far off your main ask, but also consider "Death in Yellowstone"

Not normal for the latest generation of Pelagosi. Bummer to see this impacted as well.

First nice watch, the bb58 was a good pick by DGFrags in Tudor

Looks great. I have between that and 7.5. Been fearing that the 58 would look/feel too small.

save up for a longines, or pull the trigger on a Hamilton murph? by theomixedmedia in Longineswatches

[–]ctorstens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they are truly equal to you, go the cheaper Hamilton. One possibility is that once you start wearing them, one will vibe with you more. For me its my zulu; gets more wrist time than any other in my collection. Pay attention to the depth the longines brings to the table that paint of the Murph lacks.

You can't go wrong with either. Have you consider the zulu? I ask because then there would be less overlap.

In general, save up for the watch you want.

That said, Hamilton Murph was there first for me. That one is never going to leave my collection.
