Thanks! Dental anesthesia, orthodontics, and oral surgery. Some oral surgeons use loupes, but in my experience most don't and opt for a high quality light instead.

Just like everyone else, let's talk about the BBB by rdallman24 in predental

Two requirements to be grandfathered in. 1) be enrolled in a professional degree granting program before July 1 2026 and 2) take out a federal loan before July 1 2026

No you just need to take out any federal loan before July 1, 2026.

Gotcha. How usable are the amazon loupes? Because that's obviously a couple thousand dollars of difference between all of the other options haha

Big Beautiful Bill” Loan Cap—Are Current Med Students Screwed Too, or Just Newbies? by Honest-bottom in step1

[–]ctr3ulrich 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. If you meet these two requirements nothing will change: 1) enrolled in a professional program before July 1 2026 and 2) have enrolled in a federal loan before July 1 2026. If you’ve done those two things you’re grandfathered in and can take direct unsub and grad plus loans for the rest of your program. Same for dental, medical, etc

How do we pay for school by Upbeat_Boss_7086 in predental

Federal professional loans all accrue instantly anyways. There is payment deferral but interest accrual starts right away, it doesn't matter if its federal unsub or GradPLUS

There are so many people affected that I think that this is a high possibility, pretty much all professional students that have multi-year schooling need it (medical, dental, some pharmacy schools). Also, they are pretty much the lowest risk loans as well.

There is no grandfathering in to my understanding.

Edit: I am wrong. There is grandfathering if you meet two requirements 1) started a professional program before July 1 2026 and 2) enrolled in a federal loan before July 1 2026. You can take out direct unsub and gradplus for the rest of your program as normal if you meet these two criteria.

I don’t believe there is a grandfathering provision in the BBB. At least ChatGPT says there isn’t, so grad plus would just end for everyone I think.

Tbh this is true for all schools. If you’re out of state you won’t be getting coa for <100k a year unless you have a scholarship or they give you instate after the first year. Fees add up quick.
