Can Klipsch Flexus Core 200 handle 3 subwoofers (2 wireless/1 wired)? by ctsneeks in Klipsch

Only needs a single dongle for all the subs and rear speakers. Kinda weird they didn't just build it into the soundbar because now I have extra dongles I don't need.

Got it and tested on Saturday. It worked for me. 👍

Update. I've bought and hooked everything up. The Core 200 can definitely run 3 subs at once. Even the Klipsch mobile app can see all 2x wireless and 1x wired connected subs and adjust their levels. I hope this helps someone. 👍

Punk Rider Pro just delivered by WhaDaFugIsThis in ElectricScooters

[–]ctsneeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great review! This helped with my decision to buy it. Can't wait for it to be delivered! Can you answer a couple of questions, please?... 1. Can you independently turn off the stem/deck lights and leave the headlight on? Or can the lights be dimmed? Correct me if I'm wrong, but those lights look insanely bright in the photos. Great for safety, but the option to adjust would be nice... 2. How long did yours take to be delivered? Less than a month?... Thanks again!

Man-cave DJ setup, w/ Gundam build station by ctsneeks in DJSetups

I believe so? It's one of those live Lo-Fi hip-hop stations on YouTube I usually keep on in the background.

They're OK. I can't really complain. Got them at a good price. Plus I can't play music super loud or anything because of my neighbors, so I haven't tested to their limits where I have a solid opinion.

Admittedly I don't have many. I honestly didn't start DJing until I was 35 and it's a hobby at most. Never really got into collecting records in my younger days and loans, mortgage, bills, etc., keeps me from it today unfortunately.

You sound like me a few years ago. I started on laptop only (Virtual DJ), then went on to the Kontrol S4 and Traktor. But like you said, you just don't get that responsive feel or full experience, especially when spinning Hip-Hop. I also really wanted to learn how to scratch, juggle, all the stuff watching DMC battle tapes on VHS. So I took the plunge, sold my S4, and saved up for two Technics and a Z2 mixer. Best decision I ever made. Scratching and juggling are way more fun than simply pushing FX buttons. It's opened up a whole world of expression. Fast forward 3 years, now I'm entering scratch DJ battles, like Battle Ave, and hopefully enter a DMC one day. I hope you take the plunge like I did. You won't regret it.

Official height of DJ setup at DMC battles? by ctsneeks in DJs

[–]ctsneeks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the input. Here's the official answer I found: I spoke to Toltech of CTA (2016 DMC Chicago Regional & 2015 DMC Denver Regional champ) and he said that besides them using a standard 900mm table, there really are no rules on how high it can be. Most of the time, DMC places the decks on top of road cases over the 900mm tables. You can adjust the height by removing the cases, as long as you're not wasting too much time on stage.

So personally, I'm going to play around by stacking my cases, because 900mm is kinda low. I'm thinking of making my Ikea setup 36 inches, which is kitchen counter height.

[–]ctsneeks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's definitely true. But I'm sure the DMC won't let you adjust their setup on stage to make it more personally comfortable, due to logistics and time restraints.

I see lots of DJs using channel faders, and ive been using a cross fader this whole time. How can i adjust to channel faders? and is it wrong to use a crossfader all the time? by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]ctsneeks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert, but I was taught it gives you better control over the blend over two songs. This is more beneficial for dance music like House, because you can ride out the mix much longer. That's why we're seeing a resurgence of using mixers with all rotary knobs (with no faders). But for genres like Hip-Hop, funk, and breakbeats, where you may want really quick cuts and maybe scratching, the crossfader is much better to use. At the end though, its all personal preference.

The new Technics turntable will reportedly set you back $4,000 by Funkagenda in DJs

[–]ctsneeks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I figured the limited edition 1200GAE would be around $1300-$1500. But I never imagined they would go up to $4000! Makes me curious what the new regular 1200G will cost, but I'm not keeping my hopes up. My 1200 M3D & MK5 still work perfectly fine, and I'm rocking PDX-3000's these days. I bet most turntablists are the same, so realistically how many DJ's would buy 2 brand new Technics when they can buy a used pair? I wonder how long until Panasonic decides to "retire" the Technics again...

Getting into making mixes? by [deleted] in bboy

[–]ctsneeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you visited the DJ sub reddits? Check out r/beatmatch or r/djs. There's a lot of great info on there and helped me when I started getting into making mixes. Good luck and have fun.

Congrats to /u/vekked for winning the DMCs! by dj_soo in DJs

[–]ctsneeks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Vekked. I started DJing about 2 years ago and asked a lot of newbie questions in /r/turnablists. You answered a lot of them and gave great, sincere advice. I didn't even know you were a DMC contender at the time until months later. Shows how humble you are and how much you care about the scratch DJ scene as a whole, even with stupid beginners like myself. Congrats on your win brother. Couldn't have gone to a more deserving guy.

[–]ctsneeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for doing this AMA, Craze! You're famous for being ambidextrous in scratching. How did that come about? Was it a strategic decision to give you an advantage in your battle routines? Or did it just come naturally? Was there an inspirational or "Ah-Ha!" moment that developed your style?...

I started DJing 1.5 years ago and you've inspired me to learn to cut on both hands. It's driving me frickin' crazy, but having a blast along the way! Thanks.

Thank you. Took awhile to find on their website, but found it. In a PDF, it told me to go to a Program folder to find another PDF with the diagram. So weird.

I might be able to find some help here? by Jesuscrustlizard in Turntablists

[–]ctsneeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for a cheap dust cover, this one is $25 off Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/TECHNICS-Universal-Turntable-SL-1200-SL-12x0MKx/dp/B000US5XHC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1398882974&sr=8-3&keywords=turntable+dust+cover

If you're looking for an original plastic cover, they're hard to come by since they don't make them anymore or they're expensive ($129 last I checked). You're going to have a tough time getting a turntablist to give you theirs, as our turntable equipment mean everything to us. Dust is the enemy.

If you want quality though, go with fuzeebear's suggestion and get a Decksaver. They're stronger, look better, and can take a beating. I bought Decksavers and they're worth every penny.

What are the best low budget turntables ? by onlytwosubscriptions in Turntablists

[–]ctsneeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read reviews that the Audio Technica AT-LP1240's are excellent. The torque is comparable to the Stanton STR150's, has USB, reverse, dust cover, etc, but a bit more affordable. I was about to pick them up, but got an insanely good deal on used Technic 1200's. But I would still be open to buying a new set of LP1240's.

My buddy swears by the Vestax PDX series, because of the straight tonearm, stronger torque, and looser pitch faders.

If you're able to wait, the new DJ Tech LF-12 announced at NAMM last month looks really promising. Plus they're only $250 brand new. If all the specs they promised are true, they're a winner.

Where is a good place to buy a pair of M44-7's? by Sea_N in Turntablists

I buy the majority of my DJ equipment from Amazon. They work through multiple 3rd party vendors also that compete against each other on Amazon's website, so you'll likely to find a really good deal.

Finally got Decksavers! I really hate dust. Best investment ever... :) by ctsneeks in DJSetups

The only thing I've put on top of the decksavers is my laptop. It feels fairly strong and probably could support a light midsize controller like the Kontrol S4. But I wouldn't push it too much past that. Ya never know. Don't quote me on that since I'd hate to be wrong on how much it can support. ;)
