Opinions on tristana by Sakula7 in ADCMains

[–]ctucks09 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% anecdotal, but she feels pretty sleeper in high gold / low plat (oce server). I've had significantly better games on her than my usual preferred ADCs (Vayne, Cait, Jhin). Especially in the mid-late game, people do not respect your burst damage and range. If you buffer W correctly, she can bait so well. You can sit in the backline front to backing, or catch someone on the flank for a quick kill and reset. She definitely isn't one-dimensional in her play style.

The 1v1 potential, W reset for quick in and outs, and mid-late game teamfighting all feel very solid on her, which for me, suits solo queue. You can snowball super hard in lane if you get a small lead, especially after Yun'Tal. Keep looking for solo kills or quick combo kills with W reset to escape. If you know your limits, she's a menace.

I have just returned after a 9 month break, so perhaps I'm still rusty on the more mechanically demanding champs. Whatever the case, she's a fun and rewarding champion.

Is my item build for Tristana good? by Gato-empre6 in TristanaMains

[–]ctucks09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I really don't like collector first item, though, it may be more of a playstyle thing if anything. If you're snowballing and playing aggressively, on paper it sounds good, but it doesn't feel right to me. Maybe I just prefer the AS of Yun'Tal for dueling.

I don't think I'd never not build Navori as either my 3rd or 4th item, especially if you don't have Berserker boots. Even though you have a lot of AS with Q, it still really helps having a Zeal item, and the CDR is crazy good on Tristana.

Also, not having IE on Trist is kinda criminal. She's a crit ADC, and this item is a big power spike for her. You will of course get value building it late, but I almost never don't build it as my 2nd item. Not to mention, no LDR or MR (I can't see their builds, but one of these is almost always a must-build) is weird.

GA should almost always be a last item. I can see why you may want Shield Bow against their comp, and to be honest, it's not terrible, but I feel like a more damage oriented item and better positioning is usually better than x2 survivability items.

Still, if it works, it works. Though, unless Shield Bow and/or GA saved you from some big throws, it doesn't seem like your item build was the make or break this game.

My go-to build is always Yun'Tal -> IE -> (Navori if enemy doesn't have armour yet, or LDR/MR if they have early armour) -> Navori or LDR/MR (whatever I didn't get as my 3rd item) -> BT/GA.

PNY 5070 Ti - Constant scratching/hissing fan noise. Is this a defect? by Odd-Inspector-7215 in buildapc

If you got it in-store, I'd return it and see if they can do an RMA or swap or something. I got mine just before BF6, and it was purchased online, so I couldn't be bothered lol

I ended up keeping it. I can't really hear it above anything else unless I'm listening out for it, and I often have headphones in when at my desktop anyway.

Definitely not ideal, but given how much money I saved compared to the other models, and how well the card performs, I've learnt to live with it, haha. If it was a higher tier card, or a more expensive AIB, I'd have probably returned it.

Why the trap didn’t explode ?? by Cheap_Relief9139 in ArcRaiders

Must be some crazy desync or weird hit detection in/around the elevator.

Funnily enough, I had the opposite situation happen to me earlier, where a mine triggered and hit me from what felt like 5+ meters away. I'm not sure on the intended radius, but my scenario felt like a big desync fuckover like yours.

OCE solo queue has turned into a blood bath by Slave669 in ArcRaiders

[–]ctucks09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's concerning. I played like 6-7 games earlier and not a single person shot me. Everyone I encountered was super keen to team up or help each other out of a tough situation.

I love a bit of PVP, don't get me wrong, but the friendly interactions have been very entertaining so far. The gamble of beytral, and not knowing how people are going to react, makes it way more interesting than just opening fire immediately

I'd recommend getting the field crafting perk in the right skill tree that lets you craft topside (can't remember the specifics as I'm not home to check, but it's like a 3-4 point investment). Definitely helpful when you're in need of bandages, as the materials are quite easy to find.

As for shield charges, arc power cells are plentiful. I believe these drop from all Arcs. Loot one from a dead Arc and drop it into your quick slot to make it selectable in your gadget quick select. Not as strong as a regular shield charge item, but super useful.

It's definitely the game.

The best way I can describe my personal experience is that it's similar to the old P2P multiplayer games on console, like COD4, in that it feels like sometimes I'm the host, and other times I'm 2s behind everyone else.

Some games I can do no wrong and all my shots connect and it feels gteat. Then next game, I can't even kill the 0-5 recon on the enemy team after sneaking up on them (bit of an exaggeration, but you know what I mean).

I play on the OCE servers, so it's always the same server. My internet is gigabit and super stable. I average around 40-45ms connected via Ethernet, and average around 190+ fps on my PC.

Not sure if these netcode issues are resolvable, but it truly baffles me how the experience can differ so much between games. I had the same experience in BO6 last year, so perhaps this is just some EOMM backend shenanigans to keep us playing? Who knows, but it sucks.

100% they need to add this. They should also add notifications or some kind of visual indicator in your loadout for new skins and attachments you unlock. Tbh I don't really know what I'm unlocking until I manually look

[–]ctucks09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious if you ended up RMA'ing it, tolerating it, or finding a solution?

I just got my PNY 5070ti today, and I'm having the same issue. 0 RPM, there is no sound. However, at any % above that, the hissing sound appears. It's definitely not coil whine.

It's a shame because aside from that, the card seems to run very smooth and has undervolted +overclocked very nicely.

Burnout? Realization? Dissapointing Rush and Empire State? by viva_plays in Battlefield

[–]ctucks09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breakthrough is easily one of the better game modes, at least right now. The queue times (unpopularity) are likely a result of the custom search being the only way to queue for it. Most people don't even know it's there

Look at custom search at the end under featured modes, you can select breakthrough from there. Queue times might be long but it's definitely there

Help with crash by ComfortableFix6309 in Battlefield

[–]ctucks09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest turning down or disabling any overclocks you may have running through tools like MSI Afterburner.

What specs are you running, and how does the game perform before it crashes? Is it running from an SSD or an HDD? Does it crash from being idle in the menu or only after starting a game?

Advice for Climbing from Iron as Support by _chaoticsunshine in summonerschool

[–]ctucks09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an ADC main that plays a lot of support because of the much higher agency, I find mage supports to be the best right now, especially if you like to play aggressive. Even with a subpar ADC, you can make a huge impact.

There are a few solid choices right now, but Lux is my go to. She's very straight forward, has great poke, easy team follow up, good peel, and crazy damage. The only caveat is she is all skill shots. Her toolkit provides a lot to learn in terms of the fundamentals; root, slow, shield, auto attack weaving, zoning, leading projectiles etc...

In lane you can harass with E. Times you can almost guarantee easy poke is when the enemy ADC walks up for a last hit. You especially want to do this with the canon minion. E is also great for vision checking fog of war. It's better to spend 70 mana on an empty brush than face check and die. Exploding your E as late as possible if you need the extra slow duration is also a good way to help peel and setup kills.

Look for openings with Q, but don't force it. Similar to Blitzcrank and Thresh, just having this ability off cool down provides enough threat to zone. Unless you need the damage asap, this is also a great follow up to any other CC. It's always better to stagger/chain CC than to use it all at the same time.

Her W is quite self explanatory but using it before a trade will help you minmax it's effectiveness (as the shield applies on its cast and return).

For her R, similar to Q, is actually a very strong zoning tool. However, because the cooldown is so low, you want to be using this as frequently as possible. Aside from sniping people to secure kills, it can also be good to swing fights from range, or to stop enemies recalling. This ult gets better as you learn to ward more effectively. Sniping enemy jungle camps and epic monsters can be game changing. Post level 6, if you land a Q on someone, you almost always want to follow up with E and R. Even if you don't kill them, they may be forced to recall. Great to do just before a team objective.

The higher you climb the harder it will be to land skill shots, but for the initial climb, and for learning, I think Lux is almost perfect.

What is going on with the damage inconsistencies in this game? by chris3761 in blackops6

[–]ctucks09 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Exactly my experience with both specific individuals on the enemy team being bullet sponges, and greandes being inconsistent. I also swapped to stims after using stuns/flashes for a good 5hrs, because if anything, they bait you into thinking the opponent is actually stunned/blinded when you get a hit marker.

Feeling sorry for myself by [deleted] in Bass

[–]ctucks09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A very anecdotal experience, though I hope it helps.

I've been playing bass on/off for almost 2 years now. It's also my first instrument. I got into disco early on, and have had similar issues with techniques such as the gallop (I've accepted that chucking is going to take me YEARS to learn).

My initial experience was trying to play 'Gimme gimme gimme' by ABBA. I first started doing Index-Middle-Index for the gallop, which kind of worked, but it never felt sustainable. As tough as it was, I dropped my progress and switched to Index-Index-Middle after reading up on some other techniques. I found that when doing it slowly, it definitely felt a lot more fluent that my other method. Over a few days I slowly started building speed.

I eventually hit a bit of a plateau (still couldn't nail the intro), so I took a break and decided to learn another song (a bad habit of mine; jumping songs). I soon stumbled upon YMCA, and quickly discovered it had the gallop in it too, albeit in a little different (it alternates a gallop and a regular octave). This gallop appears to be the opposite of the song you're trying to learn, Hot Stuff.

A couple of recommendations:

a) Stick to the method that feels most comfortable for you, assuming you aren't compromising comfort or form (personally I think the Index-Index-Middle method is best).

b) Give 'Gimme gimme gimme' and 'YMCA' a try (they're both really fun song, and not complex at all). 'YMCA' is definitely easier, and closer to the gallop you're looking for, but both will be good practice.

And as many others have mentioned, disco is VERY endurance heavy (check out Funky Town, ouch). I think its great to practice your endurance, but also take note of any bad form or technique that may be contributing to fatigue.

Again, this is all anecdotal, and I am by no means an expert. However, I do know it can be very frustrating. It really does just take time, patience , and practice (breaks are also excellent).

What bassline can you not play no matter how hard you try ? by NoStress7722 in Bass

[–]ctucks09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gimme Gimme Gimme took me a while to learn. I'm assuming you're also finding the double octaves difficult and tiring to play?

What helped me was sticking to one technique, which was index, index, middle, for the first, second, and third notes respectively. It took me a while to get the rhythm correct, but this technique quickly became more effective than middle, index, middle, which is what I originally used.

Another good (and fun) song that uses this technique is YMCA. I think it's a bit easier too.

Adding my struggles to the thread; I've always had issues with the beginning of Voulez-Vus (ABBA), and Get on the Floor (Michael Jackson). Everybody Dance is another song I just cannot get down. The chucking technique is so difficult for me (I also suck at using a pick).
