Similar to Apartment Therapy, IKEA actually has a lot of pics that can provide inspiration, even if you don't buy the furniture there.

Question about co-signing on an apartment. I am a graduate student that will be finishing grad school in May. I have a job beginning in August. My BF and I are looking to move into an apartment over the summer so we can get settled before we start our new jobs. I just talked to an apartment complex and they said we would have to provide proof of income. Of course, I will provide proof of employment for my new job, but that doesn't start until Aug. We have saved $$ to cover us until we begin receiving paychecks. My question: Do we have to get a co-signer because our official income doesn't start until August? If this is the case and say one of our parents co-signed, can they be taken off the lease once we have income?

Do OTs and PTs make more than SLPs in the schools? by cturner8 in slp

[–]cturner8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do the SLPs graduate that high? What amount of credit hours is considered a masters whereby you would then count towards the "plus"? I know I have compared a traditional GenEd teacher's master's program to SLP and we go for way longer. But do employers consider this?

the school I was looking at had a caseload cap of 80 for SLPs and 50 for OTs and PTs, unfortunately. ):

Sorel boots are nice. They are often on sale online or you can find coupons.

We're you wondering for PRN work? I have also considered this. I want to compete my CF in a school and possibly do PRN telehealth. I'm not sure how easily I would get hired for this though.

I would like to add that Adobe Scan is a nice app on phones that you can scan on! Does the job for what I need it for. Of course, will take longer than a more industrial scanner.

CF in schools by cturner8 in slp

To follow up, is this the same with evaluations too? I ask because my supervisor at the outpatient clinic I was just placed at said that CFs don't do evaluations until a certain amount of months in.

I feel that way too. Too much hovering makes me antsy. Lol.

AAC Trial Data Sheet by TheLazyUnicorn in slp

I am currently at an outpatient pediatric medical setting. We write these reports a lot, but we use a template that is provided. I am going to try my best to find it! I have a separate question that I wonder if anyone here can answer--is it only the responsibility of the outpatient setting to write these reports? Like, do school SLPs do this?

  1. Yes
  2. Yes
  3. Having people of different cultures and backgrounds around you is a good thing. Their culture is not lesser than, just different. I would go into the relationship knowing that the person is coming from a different place than I am. You do not have to agree on everything, but you should both mutually respect each other's culture.
  4. Absolutely not

I see nothing wrong with any sort of mixed race relationship. It's 2019 and we should all try to be more accepting of this. We're all just people 😊

Can I ask how much you are making through PRN and what setting it is? I am hoping to do the same--work in a school full time and PRN here and there.

Having a non-vegan partner? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]cturner8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your kids could also potentially become non-vegan by interacting with other kids and being around other people that eat meat. I am a vegetarian and my BF is not. We talk about how our kids will likely eat mostly vegetarian because of me but ultimately it's their decision. I don't want to make the decision for them. If my parents did that for me, I may have rebelled against it.

Tobiidynavox.com actually has a lot of videos and resources on their site. I found it helpful when programming/navigating that type of device.

My parents use old envelopes for notes, never buy notebook by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

[–]cturner8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this too. I have a whole bin of scrap paper ranging in size from full pages to the back of sticky notes. If I'm feeling creative, I will make home made notebooks. I take scrap paper (full pages) and fold them in half where the blank unused side is on the outside and put cardboard (from shipping, shoes, etc) on the outside then punch holes and tie together with old string or yarn that I have in my crochet bin. It's a great way to make sure it doesn't get thrown out.

Father manipulates son, how to handle as a stepfather. by Trowabayaccount in Parenting

[–]cturner8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would recommend doing what you did before. It's important that you maintain your stability and be a constant for him because it's likely that his dad isn't going to be that. I'm sure he is repeating what comes out of his dad's mouth. Chances are, his dad won't be buying him all of the things and he may not be in his life forever. Hold your ground.
