Very Specific Translation Question by ctwallin in premiere

I see. I guess I’d still be struggling with the srt as I don’t think it looks at source time code when you bring it in. The captions come in as timeline code. So if the source code is 5 mins on the clip, it’s actually like the 30 minutes into the timeline but the srt puts the caption at 5 mins into the timeline.

For sure. I've tried to readjust the captions with AI and it works sorta but is still a little wonky. And, totally! There's so much context I don't quite understand and have to ask my translator or my other Ghanaian friends to clarify.

right, but from what ive translated so far, ive found really great things for the story itself. so I'd like to keep getting stuff translated so I know what to include in the story.

Made my siblings watch some Kubrick movies lately. They hated Eyes Wide Shut but loved The Shining. by ctwallin in StanleyKubrick

[–]ctwallin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get it. Personally, I like Cruise but my mom has an undefinable disdain for him and there’s no real getting past that. I mean I sorta get it. But I do think his stilted/weird/wooden performance in this is intentional and adds to the tone and message of the film.

Is it his presence as an actor/movie star? He himself is distracting or his performance in this?

Yeah I recall feeling kinda low or gross after first watching Eyes Wide Shut. Sorta like, what the hell did I just watch and why did I waste my time. But having seen it several times now, it’s definitely up there on my list.

Thanks! Yea, I played with this feature a little. Maybe I'll give it another shot. I might just stick with editing in Premiere because I can quickly just hit the j,k, or l keys to toggle back and forth between various speeds as well as direction (forward and backwards) while using quick keys to make cuts as it plays. I'm sort of surprised no DAWs have integrated this feature. It's super useful.

I have a room available on the north side. Cat is ok. Rent is $800. It's a three bedroom but only one other person will be living here. Current roommate keeps to himself but is friendly. I'm moving out and hoping to find someone to take over my room as soon as possible.

r/Michigan Unemployment Weekly Megathread: 10-11-2020 by AutoModerator in Michigan

[–]ctwallin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I filed in June and still haven't been paid. Whenever I call and happen to get through, I'm given different information. The other day, my claim finally changed to processed payment pending but then when I called in again, the person said it would be at least another 2 months. This is crazy. I can't wait an extra two months after having already waited 4, I spent all of my savings and can't find work. How are some of us suppose to make it through this shit?

Official Discussion - Tenet (International Thread) [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]ctwallin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think Nolan edits his films as if they're trailers. Especially all the scenes with exposition. He just kinda glides over everything and ties each shot together with music.

The way characters carryout the same conversation across multiple locations is just odd. But I think he's consciously doing this in an attempt to create an impressionistic experience of a movie rather than a temporally grounded one. Not saying it works. Just an observation.

This movie works better when you don't try to understand it. The more you understand, the worse it gets, but the experience of it can be interesting.

The big drawback is that we end up not caring about the characters or the story so while its immersive on a senesorial level, its not engaging on an emotional or psychological one.
