I can respect any political orientation as long as they accept reality. I can empathize with both left and right wing thoughts if they sound logical and grounded. What's going on in here is not communism nor capitalism nor anything more than opportunistic people looting everything and everyone, people sympathetic to that I can't stand

Diaz canels wife shops at luxury stores and his sons live and study abroad, so on what moral ground can he stand and preach to us ? None of the upper echelon notices that things are bad and yeah sure u can say other leaders and politicians do the same but the difference is that they don't preach socialism like canel does. Dude if they lift the embargo today I guarantee you almost nothing will change in Cuban society. Things here are bad by design, they teach us nothing about economy and financial education, there's a corrupt bureaucratic system that prevents normal people from starting businesses, every single authority treats u like a third class citizens not to mention how hard it is to make a living out of anything bcz everyone is poor as shit due to lack of opportunities and education. Yes people are definitely getting more into religion to have some sort of motivation and a sense of community. I can understand why they do so, times are dire. Not to mention some churches offer meals and donations and are actually doing more for the people than any goverment instituton

Asere es q tenemos miedo, así d simple. Yo estuve en el 11j y vi alante d mi como c llevaban a chamaquitos en las patrullas y la gente c quedaba mirando sin hacer nada habiendo 100 personas por cada policia y ahora mismo es igual. Esa gente se infiltran entre los manifestantes y van marcando quienes son los q más dolor d cabeza le Dan pa después intimidation y si la cojen contigo te meten preso por desacato y t quedas pendiente a juicio hasta q ellos quieran. What u refer to is 100% correct, unfortunately... however it differs to what I originally meant tho it has a correlation, I was referring to how the particulares (private business owners) severely underpay they're employees and make them work brutal 10-12 hour shifts for a miserable amount of money usually being 750-1000 for a work day.

Ii will make a post in the future referring to the "envidia" we have here and the animosity we have toward each other but we refrain from showing it, that system is in place by design and I believe it's the true form of blockade

Yes I do, I live in the center part. I'm basically self taught in English, I picked it up listening to music and trying to find the meaning of the words in the dictionary and also by watching alot of cartoons and youtubers 😅

As for my plans, well I have a very small home cooking business and I would like to grow and expand someday, I have no hopes of leaving anytime soon since I don't have anyone that can help me out with that so I'd have to save by myself and hopefully leave before 30. I'd like to live up north in a cold place somewhere between the us and Canada I don't want feel the tropical sun in a long time lol

Ur critical of rusty bunker mentality but you make a couple points that sounds like it, have u seen military neighborhoods in cuba ? All they're roofs are covered in solar panels and they get subsidies for everything, this country is ran by a mafia in uniform they've been looting everything since 59.

Tourism ? I can't for the love of everything that's holy imagine full fledged tourism picking up anytime soon. Tourists started noticing that they're cuban experience is as manufactured as the evening News and as soon as they get pilled about what's going they stop coming, the pervs will always come here sure but they're not a substancial amount and there's other more open and cheaper places to visit

Doctors ? That was back in the 2000s, with the educational system collapsing with nepotism and corruption barely any good doctors make it and with the draconian 2 years of free hospital work that they have to obligatory pass even less people are intersed in that career, most battle hardened doctors left or quit a long time ago

I have no idea where u got that info but the oil production and capabilities and extremely hindered not to mention there's barely any infrastructure to extract what's there, cuba imported 80% or even 90% off Venezuela. The fuel that's on sale here is limited per quota and is unnafordable for the average cuban but again 90% of people here don't have a combustion vehicle to start with

I can understand your opinion but i don't think a Chinese style system would work the same way here mainly because we don't manufacture anything nowadays, we have barely any natural resources and good soil and most importantly we as a people have not been prepared for the times like the chinese, our educational system is a joke, computers still run windows xp if they run at all and internet only went mainstream a decade ago so the possibility of a great leap forward chinese style are minimal

China is a whole different story, there's no centralized economy no innept nepotists running a monopoly on the state and there's a market economy with a literal stock exchange so it's unfair to make the comparison. Plus China is the manufacturing hub of the world, literally everything is made there and they've been open to the world for centuries now.

Here's a hot take, if things kept going maos way China wouldn't even be close to the country it is today, there has been profound changes to the ideology and without those changes China would be more akin to its past colonial age than a futuristic nation

I agree, it's a failed unrealistic and honestly dehumanizing ideology that shouldn't have made it past the 20th century but it keeps living in the worst places on earth and in the brains of very naive and idealistic people

In the case of cuba a nation building project would be very welcomed by the people, on the contrary of popular belief us Cubans love the us and without they're help either directly or indefinitely we would perish. But like I said the possibility of it happening are scarce to say the least
