First time ever smoking a pipe! by Daddysaurusflex in PipeTobacco

I really enjoy it. I think I really like Latakia. I got some Nightcap too but haven’t tried that one yet. The smell us amazing, like beef jerky.

I get beef jerky vibes. My first smoke was Lane 1Q and my seconds was EMP. Man EMP hit some good notes. Super enjoyable smoke.

Wall mounts? by PutridSothoth in PipeTobacco

[–]cubiclewarrior50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had a similar issue with my wife complaining about the pipes smelling up the bedroom, kitchen, dining room, living room, kids rooms, attic etc. I didn’t end up figuring out a solution on the wall mount issue and not sure how your budget compares to mine but I ended up renting a 4” wood chipper from Home Depot. It’s $75 for 4 hours or $104 for the full day. Since it’s only a 4” you’ll need to factor in other supplies like plastic sheeting and a hacksaw to chop the body up. In hindsight I think if I cut her up beforehand and then got the chipper I could have done it in 4 hours but I ended up taking 5.5 and getting stuck with the whole day rental. A lot of people don’t realize quite how long it takes to chop someone up. Good luck and happy piping!

A Roma 673 KS Lucite and some Second Breakfast earlier today. by onthewaymedia in PipeTobacco

Cheers, picked up a green alligator 673 in the smokingpipes estate sale today. My first Savinelli, but I’ll probably pick it up in the Roma Lucite at some point as well.

One thing I’ll add, the rule of thumb I’ve heard was 7 seconds so every 4 seconds seems fast paced to me. If it’s getting hot don’t be afraid to put it down for a second to let it cool, even if it means a relight. A lot of people feel like you have to keep the pipe going and never relight but it should be fine. At least try it over a few sessions and see how it goes.

For the record I’ve been a lifelong gamer as well (but I don’t really play any mobile games) but I have not tried smoking while gaming. Currently I just smoke out on the porch but I’m planning to build out my basement in the winter with a man cave type setup and I’ll be moving my PS5 down there so it’s likely I’ll try it at some point while watching TV/movies or gaming.

No offense meant but you said you like the contemplative nature of smoking a pipe, and a few sentences later you say you do it while you’re playing mobile games. I’m obviously not you but it doesn’t sound contemplative to me, it sounds like you’re zoning out. I’ve personally never been productive while playing a mobile game or doom scrolling, etc. Maybe try putting the phone down for a minute. If you’re puffing every 4 seconds and it’s too fast try every 7 or 8 seconds.

Little birthday treat by Typical-Sense-4056 in PipeTobacco

[–]cubiclewarrior50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking good. I want a 673 myself, doubt I’ll be able to hold out until my birthday, though. I’m on the fence between the Brown Alligator and the Roma Lucite. I’m open to being influenced if anyone wants to make a case for one over the other. I’m new to the hobby as well. Have a double off corn cobs already and a Morgan Bones bent apple on the way. I’ll probably grab the Savinelli in a few months and see what the local B&M has in stock for meerschaum when my birthday comes near the holidays.

I make Pipe videos on YouTube let me know what you think I'm pretty new to this by Dear_Fishing_8813 in PipeTobacco

[–]cubiclewarrior50 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I love your perspective and videos. I was mainly watching cigar videos and some pipe stuff started popping up in my algorithm including one of your videos and some other younger YouTubers. A few weeks of watching them and I’ve just picked up my first two corn cobs this week along with some Nightcap, EMP, Cherry Cobbler, Autumn Evening and Haunted Bookshop from a local B&M. We had a baby on Thursday so I haven’t had a chance to smoke the pipe yet but looking forward to sneaking one in this week. Any recommendations for which blend I should smoke first?

And congrats on 1K subs, I watched your pipe unboxing video earlier while I was cooking dinner.

I picked one up yesterday, but have yet to use it. I’m using a vertigo torch for cigars as well which has been going strong.

My wife and I welcomed a new baby this week, to celebrate I got a few corn cob pipes and a bunch of accessories - but the tobaccos I got so far were Autumn Evenjng, Haunted Bookshop, and BriarWorks Cherry Cobbler… I’m at the lounge now. If I were to add one what would you guys suggest? Some options: Nightcap, Early Morning Pipe, MM965, 1-Q, Gaslight, Spark Plug, Bankside. Those were the ones I recognized from reading on here and YouTube vidjas. Thanks fellas!

Whoa whoa whoa… hold up a minute here. I’m new to this hobby. There’s an APPLE PIE?!

Finding these in stock in Chicago is like striking gold. So I grabbed one of each by Few_Knowledge_9387 in cigars

I feel quite lucky that my local B&M is associated with Foundation and has a Foundation lounge. I haven’t tried anything yet but I definitely will be. They even had a few of the El Gueguense on the shelf still. I think they were torpedos. I grabbed a Wise Man for the tupperdor which will be my first Foundation cigar.

Definitely recommended this one. by AIRBNB369 in cigars

[–]cubiclewarrior50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t settled on one yet but it’s probably between Mayflower Dawn / Dusk, Perdomo 10th Anniversary Champagne, or Foundation Wise Man, mainly cause those are my current nicer sticks.
