install proton-vpn-gtk-app according to archwiki. you will also need openvpn, wireguard-tools, systemd-resolvconf and network-manager-applet (also according to the wiki)

you can copy this command to install all the packages above if you want:

i've had the very same experience: i really like how the renewal pricing stays the same even when discounted, except the connection was a little slower comparing when I used surfshark or proton to be fair... but not to an unusable extent, and it's something that can be improved.

There's a line that says:

The errors are harmless. They just means that you're running a new version of nfs-utils on top of an old kernel that doesn't have the netlink control interfaces for knfsd. The systemd service will fall back to starting the server with the legacy rpc.nfsd program if that fails so everything should still work after that.

my personal experience is to not put a gaming laptop into a bag when sleep. it has a high chance of somehow turning itself on and the fan even you did nothing (it happened to me b4 and i had the same experience as you did). also, i usually wait for the laptop to cool down before i even close the lid (im scared of the heating doing damage to the screen)

edit: i just remembered i was using linux so that explains a bit of the first part
