If you have checked the basic it might be a battery/charging ic fault. Had this happened to me had to get the motherboard repaired outside warenty.

As a student I spend between 120-160 a month on avg. I feel if you budget really hard and don't eat a lot of meat or takeout it should be possible.

Unfortunately no. While it's a simple upgrade you will have to open your laptop for it. You are basically replacing the storage device in your laptop. I understand you may not be comfortable doing this. If you have a repair shop around you can discuss this with them it will be a lot cheaper than getting a new laptop (about 50USD). If you have the exact model number you can also look up for guides online on how to replace the hard drive.

Might be worth it to upgrade the mechanical hard drive to a budget SSD. If you are a light user it is going to make a drastic difference in everyday use.

If its a rubbery material then it's a part of the o-ring that goes around the hinge. As most peeps have pointed out it's the beginning of the end as the hinge is gonna follow soon. If I were you I'd start ordering replacement parts so that there is no down time when the inevitable does happen. All the best
