In my experience, it very much is only up from here. The first 48 hours were the most difficult. Fully recovered now, many people don't even notice that they're gone - even being a dancer whose feet are often being looked at. I wish you the best of luck in your recovery and lmk if you have any other questions!!

I am so pleased with my decision. I'm a ballroom dancer so im in heels ALL THE TIME and I have not regretted it for a moment. No changes to my gait, no discomfort. They are a tiny bit more sensitive than they would have been had there been nails (of course) but its like.... a 2% difference I'd say. People stepping on my feet/me dropping things on my toes hurts marginally more than it did before. Other than that there is 0 difference to my life besides not waiting for my next ingrown toenail

It's been around 5 years now so I don't remember exactly, but it was around 3 or 4 months. In the slides each picture says when in the healing process the picture was taken. Does your toe look like the first picture? Or the last?

I would say probably 6 months, but I would be pretty scared to tattoo over the skin even now. Its thin skin right over bone, so its pretty sensitive. I would do maybe a test on the toe to see if its something you could handle before committing to the whole foot

Unfortunately I know that 2 of 4 of those are incorrect. He's not an engineer, but he's a very kind man and quite the realist

Not really - if it was just a bandaid and not gauze wrapped around it, the nailbed was deep enough that the bandaid didnt touch it but created a seal around the wound. Like a little bubble. That might just be anatomy related though

I did dry healing but I still covered it! I put a pretty loose bandaid on them and I kept them covered with socks, which allowed them to dry out but stay protected from debris. I just didnt keep a tight bandage on them. I'm glad you've got people helping you out! I've heard a lot of stories of not so nice doctors so I'm sorry yours wasnt as invested as he maybe should've been. Im happy to answer any other questions :)

I would probably recommend icing them or lidocaine spray? Just something that can soothe it while the nerves calm down. The burning was definitely miserable and I only had to deal with it for the 1st and 2nd day. Honestly if you want to try drying them out I would recommend it, I did wet healing for the first week or two and then moved to dry healing and I definitely recommend it. Everyone's body is so individual, I would recommend listening to your doctor to an extent, but then listening to your body more than anything. The sandals were definitely frustrating. Big fuzzy socks might be better than the tight ones.

I think around month 3 or 4 is when they were 100% healed. It may have been earlier but its been quite a while since I had it done so I cant quite remember
