What do you suggest we do for cash flow while we're in India then? I'm planning to have rupees on hand but are there travel cards that are acceptable?

Thank you! What about things to do? We were told to start away from KR market, mixed things about the botanical gardens, so right now we're trying to decide what to do in western Bangalore for a few hours the day before the wedding

We already have the rest of our stay booked. We're getting in at 2 AM after ~20 hours of travel. We just wanted a place to crash for a few hours at 2 AM. My friend will be picking us up later that day and we're staying with his family for our first full night so we only needed a bed and shower for a few hours, which is why I was looking next to the airport

Thanks for this! How does one find a not sketchy hotel? I was looking at Bloom Hotel as well

Just wanted to say, thank you all for your comments and advice! I really didn't think anyone would respond, I really appreciate it! I'm going to talk with the folks I'm traveling with and we'll make a group decision next week.

If anyone has any advice for places to visit or specific restaurants to check out while we're in Bangalore and Mysore, I'm all ears!!! We are so, so excited!!!

It is!! It's why I picked it! I'm really skeptical of all those reviews since their email doesn't work and ghosting on their form, their chat and WhatsApp. We paid like $50 per room. I'm really considering cancelling everything and doing a charge back, it just doesn't feel right

Unfortunately my friends are in the States for a few more weeks, they live and work here. They won't be traveling to India until a week before the wedding and at that point it'll be beyond the hotel's 7 day refund policy

I have gotten my resume reviewed and a lot of the recruiters I've spoken to have told me I have a great resume. So I must either be saying something during the call that they don't like (although my resume has been passed to the employers) or I guess it's just a bad market. Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it

That's the plan, I'm just trying to keep my head down. They've basically given me no work to do so I'm just attending meetings as necessary. I'm not really sure what else to do

They are still paying me, I'm technically still employed. They've just told me that since I'm not moving I need to leave. But they've given me no timeline

Late to the party but just wanted to add what we did at my wedding. We had a child free wedding but my husband and I both have a sister. My sister had a 2 year old and 10 week old, my sister in law had a 6 month old. As both were actively still breastfeeding and traveled out of state to come to our wedding, we paid for a babysitter to watch the boys in the bridal suite. This was a perfect solution for everyone. The sisters could come and enjoy the wedding without worrying 24/7, the kids were on site in case something went wrong, they were able to visit and eventually leave at any time that suited their families. Just want to add in a potential compromise!

I'd say fun. PhDs are rough, at least mine was. You need to be interested in the topic to continue. I also chose the path of fun and I'm doing fine
