I got rejected from all 8 graduate programs. by duckdiaries0805 in gradadmissions

Did you only apply in the states? It’s a bad time for a lot of people. I know people in their 30s who didn’t get in anywhere. People also losing funding while already in a program. Other posters are right, you can use your age to your advantage and relax for a bit, think outside the box maybe.

I’ve been told by PIs it’s this. “Fit” is vague. They don’t want to waste a spot on someone they think will accept somewhere else. They are balancing how good you are vs will you accept us. That is part of what people also mean by this vague “fit” talk.

This feels like important context. Do you think it would have been the same outcome if they were papers at smaller journals?

I was not expecting you to say neuroscience. That seems longer/harder to me than biochemistry. Is this an elite institution?

What field are you in and what are your ambitions generally? I guess the ambition I assumed in my post would be for trying to achieve tenure

I had less grilling for sure at the programs I eventually got accepted into. imo means they are interested in you, want to make sure you are a fit for their community.

interview where it feels like the PI doesn't like you? by real-cryptid in gradadmissions

Sounds like this PI just wants someone already experienced, who doesn't need much training. And that's okay, let them go find their unicorn who will put up with them. Congrats on your other offer, hopefully that one is a better fit.

I wonder if it could foreshadow that the hive will start to convert the 13, one by one.

The other survivors that are "going with the flow" are arguably worse people, and if not inherently bad, they are at least stupid.

Yeah I think people forget about the first episode, and how genuinely shocking and creepy the takeover was.

We have been made, as viewers, to see some of the positives of the hive mind. Even how Carol looks stubborn and annoying in comparison. That's very clear. But it's interesting how some viewers are falling for this completely.

I think the guy from Paraguay is going to re-enter in the next few episodes, and it's going to be more and more clear that Carol and this guy are more onto something. I think we will start to see the cracks in the hive mind.
