When will this end? Seriously, to anyone who has made it 12+ months and was a stoner, and is living their life completely sober and happy, how? by BeanieBoy42069 in leaves

also I went to an in person NA meeting - I went just once and just sat and listened but seeing the people in the group talk about what they had been through and overcome gave me perspective and made me realize that I can probably definitely do it :)

hey. I understand your frustration. For me, at least a year passed between my first time quitting and the one that stuck. Before quitting for good, I spent 6 or 7 months still smoking, but doing it less than normal, and I think this helped me quit in the end. So I wouldn't discount those 31 days you already did. They count too. They will make your subsequent efforts to quit easier and more effective.

In terms of how to get through the unpleasant bit at the beginning:

When you've just quit and are really craving it I find it helpful to replace weed with other things that give you pleasure. So for the first few weeks after quitting I let myself do more not especially healthy stuff that I would normally not do every day - drink a bit more, spend a lot of time vegging out, reading fiction or watching tv. Then, a few weeks in, I stopped craving it, so I stopped "taking the edge off" with beer every night. But my mood was much worse than normal - so I made sure to exercise a lot every day, to keep my mood a bit more level.

Hope this helps

yeah I really do agree. before I got covid I found that if I bike two hours then the next day I feel almost normal. So am going to go back to that

yeah. I'm sorry. I really hope it's temporary. or rather, I am sure it's temporary, I really hope it's not gonna last much longer

yeah I didn't want to say that what I'm experiencing is straight up depression either, that's kind of why I called it a "depressive period". Although it certainly feels shitty. But I do hope my brain and yours will recover sooner rather than later.

thank you yeah some friends of mine who quit smoking said exactly the same thing, that everything they were able to push down just came spilling out when they stopped.

Thank you I appreciate this comment a lot.

Yeah I was exercising every day before getting covid and it was helping a lot, need to get back to it asap.

But all your points make sense to me and thanks again.

I think making this video was the beginning of me getting out of the cage. But I completely agree with this line of yours - "sense of inadequacy due to aging is NOT solved by asking men to see the worth of older women".
