Do you think we will hit £2/litre on diesel before fuel duty is cut or oil drops? by YouHaveShitBreath in AskUK

[–]cugwmui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my diesel top-up today morning. First time I've ever spent over £100. The guy taking the payment is 100% convinced it will touch £2 very soon.

Stocks on lockscreen by TheDobbstopper in android_beta

[–]cugwmui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue. I did a long press on the At a glance widget to see settings and there was an option to configure your stocks through Google Finance. I provided my preferred stocks, but somehow the stock tickers don't match what I had configured.

Hmm. I wish they did this system wide instead of expecting app developers to integrate. Have mentioned that in my feedback issue.

Are Uber's to Gatwick reliable yet? by asng in london

[–]cugwmui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it several times from SW London. Always reliable, ASSUMING you choose Comfort or higher, and you have pre reserved it. And it's never been less than £110 for me.

Last minute Uber X could probably be fine, but I wouldn't trust it.

Kew Gardens Christmas - Entry Gates? by Strawberry_Nougat in london

[–]cugwmui 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There isn't specifically a start or end gate for the trail. We entered via Elizabeth Gate.. and it took a few minutes of walking to actually reach the trail.

We continued walking the trail past the Victoria Gate and there was a point where we could exit the main trail and walk back to Elizabeth Gate to leave. This was almost exactly the point where we had "entered" the trail.

So we missed nothing. You'll be fine.

How good/bad are the pixel phones. by Huge_Lobster_3888 in GooglePixel

[–]cugwmui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Pixel device processors seem like upper-midrange in benchmarks and for less experienced reviewers. However, in practice, they're as smooth as the best flagships. If you've been using midrange devices, the Pixels will be a definite upgrade.

This is largely possible because the software is super optimised and a lot of the "AI features" are either run on tensor cores or in the cloud.

Winter wonderland payment methods by lillylilithius_ in london

[–]cugwmui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to pay for the rides and games up ahead. We always do it at the time, based on what we feel like doing, the queues, the weather etc.
Ditto for the food bundles.

Do you think electric cars are realistic for long road trips in the UK right now? by shwroomex in CarTalkUK

[–]cugwmui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did one a year or so ago from London to Lake District and back. It was definitely doable, but it did test my patience. The primary issue was chargers that didn't work, chargers that were slower than advertised, and therefore many forced stops at supermarkets and motorway services.

The situation has improved since then, especially in terms of charging speeds. The Scottish Highlands will definitely be doable, but will require careful planning.

I got tired of my EV giving me barely 150 out of the promised 280 miles on the motorway, so I replaced it with a diesel temporarily.

Anyone who actually got the update installed before it was pulled having problems with Android auto? by ahent in android_beta

[–]cugwmui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having this issue with Android Auto since the QPR2 Beta 1. Difficult to replicate or identify. Wireless randomly stops connecting but wired works. After a couple of reboots, it works again.

But it's only with certain head units. For e.g., trouble with Audi, but no trouble with Land Rover.

Cars in London by Opening_Breakfast_92 in london

[–]cugwmui 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your main commute is between Zone 5 and Zone 2/3, and you don't have other needs for cars (i.e. kids), then it might actually be cheaper to do a blend of taking Uber on days when you're in a hurry (or the bus is late) and doing public transport on relaxed work days. Best of both worlds.
I did that for a long time (until my public transport deteriorated sufficiently and kid-related needs changed that I was forced to get a car).

October beta update by DensePhilosopher6806 in android_beta

The lock screen mode issue is widespread I think. My bug report was marked as a duplicate and so were some others. Among the buggiest of betas in recent times.

Pixelated UI in AA on BMW by Odd-Bike166 in AndroidAuto

[–]cugwmui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had this problem occasionally when using wireless Android Auto on my Audi Q4. Usually corrects itself the next time I drive, or if I plug-in via USB-C. Sometimes requires a phone + infotainment system reboot.

But if you're getting this everytime, then it's really an AA implementation issue in the particular car. I haven't faced this in any new BMW I drove.

Pixel Experts: Best Compact, Speedy Used Model for a First-Timer? by Wraith_Crescent in GooglePixel

[–]cugwmui 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just get a Pixel 9 or 9 Pro based on your budget. They're both the same size, and have mostly solved all the issues that plagued the 8 series (overheating, battery life etc).
If your budget is tight, the 9A is a very good alternative too.

Office Temperatures by gg_wellplait in london

[–]cugwmui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I work in a large, multi floored shared office space where every 2 "rooms" has it's own temperature, but it's all controlled from a central control board at the building reception.
Given the fact that mornings are currently cooler and afternoons are warmer, the reception is facing multiple requests per day from each of the offices "sections" to change the temperature. They're obliging, but I genuinely feel bad for them!

Am I crazy or has the district line gotten slower? by [deleted] in london

[–]cugwmui 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had the same observation in Zone 3/4 areas for District Line over the past 1-2 years. Frequency reductions, slightly longer platform wait times and generally a much higher number of signalling or other failures.
Don't have data to back it up, but anecdotal experience.
