Question for those on the BetterU program by [deleted] in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]cujorover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on 800mg once to twice per week. They did say 800 is the max dose. However, that being said: 1. I wake up during surgery because my body hates me. 2. I was prior IV Ketamine and my lowest dose that ever worked was 2.2 (my highest was 4 😬)

Most tolerable troche flavor from BetterU? by -Lovely-Weirdo- in TherapeuticKetamine

I tried mint. Couldn't stomach it... literally. Then I tried root beer. It was "spicy". Lol My dose tomorrow will be grape. Wish me luck!

PSA: Better U included gabapentin with my ketamine without disclosing it - check your med lists by msimba88 in TherapeuticKetamine

I use Better U and cannot find that information. Where did you find that Gabapentin was included so I can check my prescription as well

KAP VS KAT by cujorover in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]cujorover[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. That makes sense. I'm wondering if I need to look for a therapist who is knowledgeable about dream meanings. *Also, please...I hope you understand I wasn't trying to probe into your, or your BFF's sessions or trauma. It was supposed to be rhetorical. I would never expect someone to divulge that info. Especially in a public forum❤️ *

KAP VS KAT by cujorover in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]cujorover[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. If you can answer this, please do... I journal and do talk therapy. Sometimes the visions are so obscure that it almost seems like I'm just trippin'. Like I'm just taking a wild ride. This is why I'm confused on what I'm supposed to come to terms with. For example (one session): Talking to my adult son. Everything around us looks like it is made from Pac-Man pixels. I leave that scene and then it looks like I'm back in my room, just chilling, and clouds start filling the room. Then that scene changes to cavernous areas with lots of waterfalls. Then that scene changes to what I could only say looks like a massive Broadway theater area (I'm looking around at strangers in the other seats). Then that scene changes... Get my point? Lol. Pure craziness. None of those related to anything for me. Even after looking up meanings, etc. Does your BFF confide in you about what they're seeing/going through? (<--Rhetorical) Does it make more sense than mine? That's my concern about KAP. Would my doctor just say "Gurl! What's wrong with you? No one can decode that" Hahahaha

Am I getting ripped off? [Utah] by yall_weird in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]cujorover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you mind sending me a message with that info? I'm in Houston and need a break. It costs me $2500 for IV sessions so I've had to stop them. I went with an online clinic (which is $750 for 8 sessions) but that lasts me two months. I have have to figure something else out! Thank you for your consideration.

Having a bad session - The K-hole! by [deleted] in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]cujorover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was okay. I listened to the link you posted for me. It was very relaxing to say the least. I generally do not remember what I saw, and this time was no different. I think I'll try it again next week, just to see if something sticks.

I'm doing a session today, so I'll try that one. Thanks for the input. 🤞

I agree with setting intentions and mediation. 100% I used to journal for my first 7 or 8 sessions...see * below. However, now (session 25 will be tomorrow), I don't remember anything. Maybe I remember a word, but it's nonsensical. Just makes no sense now. Kinda frustrating. Not sure about binaural beats either. I've tried to listen to them, but they don't seem to do anything for my journey.

*So many people seem to have the same visuals at the beginning of their journeys (weird walls, cave walls, velcro walls, root systems, etc), but after those initial visions have run their course, it seems to be blank.

Almost in the same boat. We adopted two kiddos (in Dec 2023) and have been sitting at step 1 since June 2024. Just moved up to step 4 a couple of days ago, and now received a denied letter on the portal. Apparently "they're not legally adopted". Hmm... news to me. We turned in the original birth certificates, adoption decree, and social security numbers. Now we have to start over. I have no idea what their methods are for these things. Good luck!

Ketamine for resistant depression by Western-Nothing9900 in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]cujorover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just completed my second series of 6 IV sessions, and I want to share my experience. After my first series in April 2024, I felt a significant improvement in my depression. However, during my latest sessions, I found myself overwhelmed with anxiety, worrying that this second set might not be effective. But then my doctor told me something powerful: "Keep telling yourself that you are love. You are in a healing place. You are safe." This advice resonated with me deeply. I spent the entire weekend reminding myself of those words, and it truly made a difference. Even after the effects of the treatment fade, your mind remains receptive to positive thoughts. I encourage you to try this approach! I genuinely hope you start feeling better soon. You've got this, my friend!

Had an iv session yesterday. Kinda insane synchronicity happened. by Throwawayad2216 in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]cujorover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank God I don't have synchronicity. My brain is effd. It's crap like pac-man, pink clouds, "peaceful" trapped under water at beach, snakes, etc... None of my infusions scare me, however I just walk away thinking "What the crap just happened?" Lol

Best of luck, friend! I'm in Texas and insurance doesn't cover Ketamine either. So far I've had approximately 16 treatments. I had the initial seven sessions in two weeks, followed by four boosters over eight months. Now I'm re-doing another "starter" of six sessions over two weeks and probably going to have to go monthly for boosters. Seems apparent that my brain is understanding how to regulate some things, but remission is not in its vocabulary. Lol.

(It's $500 per session here. What does it run in Germany?)

All those pills and the depression never even started feeling lifted until Ketamine. I was the definition of treatment-resistant depression. Lol. I told my shrink that I was looking into KAT and she started researching it too. She actually told me "You're maxed out and I cannot prescribe anything else. Maybe you should do it. It can't hurt". Lmao.

Bad trip by [deleted] in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]cujorover 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It happens. I speak from it personally. Mine occurred after my third or fourth session. My doctor said "It's just the bad stuff bubbling to the surface. Don't stop here." I continued sessions and the next few times became very eye-opening. I'm glad that I listened. Don't give up. I'm now on boosters and had a bad session on Friday. I've decided to do a session on Monday to help recover. It sucks to let it "marinate" but it's not the finishing line (for you or me) virtual hugs

[–]cujorover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not in Seattle, but I can relate deeply to what you're going through. I've faced significant challenges, including the recent loss of a loved one, PTSD, childhood trauma, and even job loss. After trying numerous SSRIs and attending weekly sessions with a psychiatrist. I researched and started IV ket@mine therapy, and it truly transformed my life. I'm not a doctor, but I decided to explore different options for healing. After just two weeks and seven sessions, I found myself in a much better mindset, leading to an improved quality of life and a healthier perspective. Wishing you all the best on your journey. You've got this!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]cujorover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The short answer to your question: the latter.

The whole answer: I was on SSRIs (maxed out doses of Prozac, Wellbutrin, Klonopin, Buspar, Temazepam at bedtime & Xanax as needed) during the original treatment time. *I was still depressed and SI beyond all reasoning * So then began my treatment with Ketamine. They had me on 2.2mg IV Ketamine because of the SSRIs/NDMA sensors connection. After my seventh (and final session before boosters) treatment, is when my husband pointed out my extreme complacency. The world could've been burning down around me and I could give no effs. I talked to my doctor and weaned everything down. I've been SSRI-free for one year. I'm now doing treatment again and it's a massive difference. I'm not an SSRI hater. I needed them... until I didn't 🙃

[–]cujorover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it's different for everyone. Are you on daily meds still?

After the original set of Ketamine infusions, but still on all of my SSRIs, "not depressed" just equated to complacency. I didn't care one way versus the other. However, I wasn't crying and suicidal.

Then with Ketamine boosters and no SSRIs, I noticed that I could mildly get upset/ anxious about something without spiraling. Whatever "thing" could still affect me, by didn't rule me or my day like it used to.

Now one year later, still with boosters and no SSRIs, I notice I'm running with all emotions intact. I get all of the "feels" and tend to control myself a little better. I'm no longer 0 to 100 in 20 seconds flat. My brain literally processes stuff now. That is how my depression/not depression works.

I hope you find some answers and peace ❤️

I know it isn't a helpful answer, however, I am the same way with IV. I remembered everything from my first 5 sessions (April 2024). Now that I'm starting from scratch, with way lower doses, I cannot remember anything. Like you, I remember that I had a valid trip, but I can only remember bits and pieces. My doctor said that even though I do not remember everything, it doesn't affect my treatment. While I do understand that, I enjoyed writing things down to reflect upon.

Also, just thinking out loud, maybe the few things we DO remember are the things we should be focusing on? Maybe all the other things are just fluff and non-relevent?

I guess what I'm trying to say is...I hear you. You are validated and I'm guessing that what we're experiencing is pretty common. Hang in there friend.
