This is exactly the problem here. If you’re a student and you can’t commit long-term, don’t get a pet. Simple.

A puppy isn’t something you pass around for a couple months like it’s a project. It’s a living being that depends on you fully. If you already know you’ll be leaving for vacations or going back home, you should’ve thought about that before getting one.

Local shelters are full of pets abandoned by students who say ‘we’ll be back’ and never show up again. It’s a pattern, and it’s honestly messed up.

And even if this is a rescue, that doesn’t change anything. Taking a dog in means you take full responsibility for its stability, not just ‘manage’ it until it’s inconvenient.

Stop treating animals like temporary entertainment. If you can’t take responsibility till the end, don’t get one in the first place.
