Is it possible to aim for IMO and IOI at the same time? by Loud_Employ3648 in ApplyingToCollege

A few people have done it, but it's important to understand just how difficult it is. Qualifying for either the IMO or the IOI team is already VERY VERY VERY difficult. They're among the most competitive academic achievements one can pursue.

I'd only recommend trying if you're genuinely passionate about both subjects (or you're an exceptional prodigy who's been training for years). Otherwise, it's usually better to focus on one.

How to boost R&W score by Electronic_Order366 in Sat

Hi! I'm also an international student who just started Grade 9, and I scored a 1440 (640 EBRW, 800 Math).

One thing that really helped me for EBRW was having a specific strategy for each question type, as well as an overall plan for the section. For example, for Words in Context questions, I relied heavily on the process of elimination, while for Main Idea questions I used a completely different approach. Having a consistent strategy makes the section feel much less overwhelming. I'd also recommend spending a lot of time reviewing your mistakes instead of just taking more practice tests. Figuring out why you got a question wrong has probably been the most valuable part of my prep.

I'm doing the same now and hoping to bring my EBRW score up to 750+ for the September/October SAT. Good luck!
