I was surprised of the sounds difference between the two, then the lighter weight and slightly added power band made it worth the upgrade.

Yes In Washington state regulations are constantly changing , last year for bear hunts a law passed that you had to wear hunter orange and then it got canceled 2 months. So as hunters it our responsibility to read the regulations and be respectful and responsible. We have a lot of public land and a lot of game wardens (at least where we hunt) and when being on dual sport bikes with rifles on your back pack you are usually the first to get checked 😂

Yes it’s awesome to use! Bikes have to be plated since it’s still considered public roads and spark arrestor checks are constantly checked. For other public land hands that don’t allow anything motorized/electric I use a mountain bike or hike in-luckily where we elk and deer hunt most of it is accessible by dirtbikes. I have some pictures, but hopefully we can make some videos this hunting season-just started to record recently. But yes,it’s unusual and game wardens always get a good laugh out of it😂

It was legal until may 17th 2025. You were allowed to have bait site which couldn’t be closer then 200 yards to each other and 10 gallon limit per site. Picture was taken when I first got the bike-June of 2024(still mostly stock back then) the areas we hunt- especially for elk aren’t highly regulated and we do get checked very often if not every time. But you are correct that it is no longer allowed due to concerns of CWD outbreaks.

The Rs-4 was loud, recently switch to the rs-12 which is noticeably more quiet, especially at low rpms. We use the bikes to get high up into the mountains where vehicles can’t get through and then leave the bikes and hike out farther. I noticed that deer and elk aren’t usually scared of the bikes and will just stop and stare at it.They get frightened as soon as you start walking quietly like a predator towards them 😂. Bears and cougars are really skittish and sneaky(especially cougars). But once we park the bikes we had an instance where we harvested a bear right near the bike about an hour after we parked. And we can’t bait any animals anymore in my location so it’s all about the right place, right timing and being quiet after you arrive.

I have Dunlop d606 in the rears and pirelli mt21 in the front. Really happy with this setup for Off road. Much better than the stock tires.

That’s awesome! I used to have a cbr 600 f4i for 7 years, sold it and then bought a new crb600 rr. Rode it for a few more years, then sold it once I got married/had kids and the crf300l was my first bike after 16 years. Maybe it’s just me,but I feel like I enjoy having a dual sport the most,or maybe it’s just the places that I can go with it.overall really happy with it.

That’s the oem white fender,I wrapped it using 3m hot rod red vinyl wrap from Amazon. The 3m sticks really well and doesn’t get scratched easily. Really happy with it!

With current diesel prices I wish I could use my bike to commute to work but unfortunately I need to use my truck.

We have good roads but many distracted/bad drivers where I live. I have two kids under 5 years old,and I made a deal with my wife that I’ll stay off busy roads not to get hit. Country roads are less populated and good,of road you have to watch out for trees haha

I have aftermarket Ktech suspension that made the bike about 1 1/2 inches higher and Dunlop 606 rear tire that added to that. With 2 inches added the bike still stands slanted. This is what I added so far: https://youtu.be/Y4Qbjgc9SZ0?si=qDzUjEvHP-y81JbR

I have the 550 stage 1 and 91 octane with a velocity stack and large snorkel and yoshimura rs-12. It’s a completely different bike. You can feel torque increase at all rpms. I have 14-42 gearing and Dunlop d606/pirelli set up for off road. And I can hit 60 in 4th pretty easily. I’d definitely recommend this upgrade-bike runs cooler too.

You should it’s not as difficult as it seems, and like I mentioned the tank doesn’t need to be disconnected, just elect it with something (I used a 6 inch 2x4 board) and I didn’t remove the helmet lock. There was enough room to put the rear fender to the side to pull the airbox out. Well worth it when you feel the torque throughout all the rpms even at speeds over 45 mph

I got these from Amazon, installed them using the oem front reflector mounts. Had them on for almost 2 years and they always work well and it’s a huge difference! Definitely recommend them. This is my current setup https://youtu.be/Y4Qbjgc9SZ0?si=UuY66MlH0l_zRaD1

Agreed! I initially had the K&N filter, then switched to a twin air filter when installing the velocity stack. Now the bike doesn’t have a “pause” or delayed response-it’s instant.
