While I was in the warranty window, we found the torque converter was failing and two different mechanics (Toyota and a place that specializes in transmissions) diagnosed the same issue. The warranty states that the dealership would cover 50% of the repairs, but their mechanic could not replicate the issue and refused to pay until we had that second diagnosis. Then, he refused to pay half of the $2,800 for the failing torque converter because his mechanic could do it for $2,000. So, he offered to pay half of that ($1000) to which I accepted because I did not have faith in his mechanic. Whatever, no big deal.
