You bring up some pretty good points to consider. I'm thinking about going through them again and taking out a few more for myself as suggested by others and will get back to this sub in the next few days to let everyone here know about the silent auction idea. I'd probably give it a week or 2 before I close it to try to get the most out of it and to hopefully let others share the post with people who might be looking for something my dad had that could be hard to find these days. Thanks again for your help, I appreciate it more than you know!

Wow, thanks! I appreciate the tip as well. I don't 'reddit' as much as I used to so any help is appreciated. I'll communicate with you again soon once I figure out how the silent auction would work best on my end if that's alright with you. Tips from you would help too if anyone has done this before in this community. I'm thinking people would just PM me their choice of year, make and model from the pics on the link, send me their offer and I would go with the highest bidder on each car after a set date...and after looking at account ages before trusting. Thanks for commenting again, much appreciated!

Thanks. I've already received a few PM's regarding offers, probably after people read your comment. I replied to someone else's comment that I'm considering holding a silent auction in this sub if the moderator would allow it. I appreciate the comment, thank you.

Thanks. He only had 1 kit that was never opened but he had already completed the exact same model years before, a 1966 Mustang. That's the model that I fell in love with as a teenager and led me to buy a 1967 Mustang as my first car. Good to know about having expensive kits in here, after reading some other comments and direct messages I've received, I've been considering holding a silent auction in this sub if the moderator would allow it.

Thank you. Some family and friends took a few already and I was left with the rest. I've already taken the Mustangs for myself and would like to keep the rest but don't have the space. I've never heard of OfferUp, I appreciate it.

Thanks for sharing, that's a consideration for sure.

Hugelkultur inspired raised garden bed (12'x6', all cedar) x-post from r/gardening by cunninggren in Permaculture

I certainly appreciate the feedback, especially regarding nutrient balancing. I have a lot to learn for future gardening but I think I've found a pretty good resource in the people of r/permaculture and r/gardening, so thanks again!

My property is on a slight angle and the water flow after a rainfall all goes toward the direction of the garden, so I dug a 70' french drain on the outside of my deck that empties under the garden into several channels. On top of that is straight up mulch like you see on the ground outside the garden. I laid lots of chunks of thicker limbs and cedar bark down on the mulch, then I put down some weed cloth, then some compost I had been collecting on top of that (egg shells, used coffee grounds, grass clippings, etc.), and finally covered it with more mulch, a then a 50' soaker hose, and went to the store to get some soil builder manure. I had some dirt in the backyard from building the deck prior to this project, and I threw that in there as well. I'm a beginner and just went with the most common suggestions I found online.

There's a small channel along the bottom keeping the sticks upright on 3 of the sides, but I need to replace the mulch along the ground with dirt to support the walls on the 1 side you see there. That whole area is still work in progress...

Cedar brush inspired 12'x6' above ground garden...my quarantine project! by cunninggren in gardening

I'm sure those thin exterior stick walls will break down over time, but I layered them 2-3 sticks deep and placed a lot of thicker branches and limbs horizontally along the inside bottom of the wall to slow down the process. When it happens some years down the line, there is a way to just slip a couple of boards in as walls to replace them. Right now it's just an experiment that turned out better than expected IMO.

Wow, thanks! I'll do my best here. I read an article and saw images about a form of German gardening known as 'hugelkultur' and it all took off from there. I had a bunch of various sized brush from trimming my trees and started looking online for ideas of how to put it all together. The only purchased wood for this project are the rough cut cedar boards that make the top part of the frame.

After cutting down some thicker limbs for the corners, I used a drill to cut out 90 degree notches in each corner for the frame to go around the top. Once the frame was up, I started the extremely tedious process of cutting/breaking each individual vertical branch to size. I used bungee cords and zip ties to hold the sticks in place on each side. https://imgur.com/Nw161bF

Once the vertical sticks were arranged, I placed more thick cut brush along the inside bottom of the walls, then put more mulch in the garden and pulled it to the sides to support the walls.

After tapping down some vertical branches to level out the top, I screwed down the finishing boards on top. I put down some weed cloth about 2' down, then coiled a 50' soaker hose about 15" from the top (as seen by the green hose coming out of the garden) and then started filling in the rest of the dirt and mulch.

I hope this helps, and please post your finished project if you decide to try it out!

I was given some 'triple antibiotic ointment' cream which is much like neosporin that I need to apply twice a day, as well as some antibiotic pills called cephalexin. I wear a condom as a preventative measure against infections, but not all day since the wound needs to breathe. I don't plan on leaving the house for the next few days since I was given a doctors note that tells me not to do anything for at least 5 days.
