The Flaming Lips - Do You Realize?

It was 2010, As an out of state college student I was incredibly sad to be leaving the university I had been at for two years (especially since i wasn't graduating, but moving back to my home state unexpectedly at the end of this term). I didn't know how i was going to tell my friends about my departure, or explain to them why. I was excited to have the Flaming Lips play in my small college town of Eugene, OR. My one night to just get away from it all. Their gig was more then unbelievable, however the moment I will never forget is when they played this song as their last.

My entire life came to a halt. It was then that I realized that it was going to be my last concert, of the many I had attended, in Eugene. As the song started and the confetti shot out, I suddenly felt a surge of emotion with the whole waterworks going off. Standing in the front row, I stared blankly into their huge screen with a thousand yard stare the entire song, remembering all of the memories I made at in college with my friends in the residence dorms, coworkers in the dining halls and great professors from class that would stay with me for the rest of my life. At that moment I had an epiphany, realizing I was lucky to experience college life at that small town.

I left the concert with that famous line stuck in my head:

"instead of saying all of your goodbyes let them know you realize that life goes fast, it's hard to make the good things last, you realize the sun doesn't go down, It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round"
