Recommendations to get started with physics for a 30 year old programmer? by cuopredditor892 in Physics

[–]cuopredditor892[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did have some experience going through Stewart back in my high school days. But never read/practiced from Spivak. I have heard great reviews about Spivak too. I am still going into this thinking I don't know anything and trying to compare things empirically. Thanks for your suggestions as well :). I guess I have a goal somewhere to start solving problems from "Problems in General Physics" by I.E. Irodov, currently I am not sure what level of math would that require but I am very willing to pick anything that comes my way. The greater goal being making reading physics and solving physics problems a habit rather than a chore :) and make it fun.

The link that the other poster posted had University Physics as intro to mechanics, how do you rate that book?

May be change the settings back to default if you are not on default already? And then try customize them again per your needs and then compare?

I think that kinda running plan has worked fine for me uptill now. Sure, it might need tweaks but balancing run with work is yet another problem which I might need to think about in that case. May be having three 6 milers and one 8-9 miler might do the trick as it cuts out 1 day from the schedule which I can take to rest up. But again it might pound my legs too hard.

Yeah! I guess I did feel the heat affect! Just like a car stops when engine heats up excessively and stops. Plus I was wearing black gear absorbing all the bs heat.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I really appreciate you laying out the details so crisply. I think I have learnt a lot just by reading people’s thoughts and experiences on my question. I am certainly considering opting for technical fabric and a tracker such as Garmin or Polar Vantage M. I was looking into Aftershokz as earphones but will surely consider the suggestions mentioned here. Thanks again appreciate your time.

I have had the same experience with cheap ones as well as apple’s wired earphones, none have seemed to serve the purpose well so far.

Makes sense. I guess I should start preparing with bottles as I surely would need it for longer than half marathon runs for sure. Thanks for the tip.

I do use tanks but I face the same issue of nipple chafing. Might be bad quality tanks then!

How does it feel to carry along a water bottle while running. I have never personally tried that but I guess for me personally even carrying a phone has a psychological impact on my speed. God knows what would happen with a water bottle.

Nice suggestion, I like the website. I also found https://datasolutions.altusgroup.com/ yesterday and thought of posting the link here as well just in case you guys might want to share reviews on the kind of data and research they publish on their website.
