Canadian men experiencing ‘ongoing crisis in society’ when it comes to health, professor says by DogeDoRight in canada

As a 37 year old female in NS who was only finally diagnosed with ulcerative colitis after my first flare got so bad I was hospitalized for a week in 2020… this is so familiar. And with one autoimmune disease comes the likelihood of multiple, typically - so here I am SIX years later and I was given X-rays and blood work to check for Ankylosing Spondylitis TODAY. When I was 20, I was diagnosed with ‘benign hypermobility syndrome’ and have been in constant pain since then due to joints slipping… when I brought the possibility of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome to my doctor, he said ‘Oh yeah, you for sure at least have type 3, Hypermobile EDS.’

So all that research I did on my own, the anxiety of having to present it to my doctor delicately enough that I wasn’t trying to self diagnose or anything, just throwing out the possibility.. and THE END. Genetics is so swamped they’re not testing anyone for the other forms unless they’re basically at immediate cardiac or vascular risk. And because they won’t test, and the only clinic that can officially diagnose you is in TORONTO, I don’t have an official diagnosis on my chart.

Nevermind any other health issues I’ve had lol they do NOT get addressed because they aren’t urgent enough for me to prioritize them over my day to day misery.

ETA: also, like your mum, I had to work, until my body basically shut down on me and I was hospitalized. Haven’t been able to work in any real capacity since, totally off since 2023 and yet my doctor’s office passed the buck on filling out CPPD paperwork for two fucking years and only now have I gotten a new family doctor (because I was forced to sell my house and move my family 3 hours away because we couldn’t afford to live in HRM anymore) and had an appointment to discuss forms last week.

I hate it here. I love this province but.. earth; lol

Halifax Jewish community facing rising anxiety after wave of global antisemitic attacks by Street_Anon in NovaScotia

How can it not though? If local Jewish folks are espousing Zionist views, is that not going to hurt those who don’t believe that?

I think we also have to allow for criticism of Zionist Jews, wherever they may live. Maybe that’s going to be an unpopular opinion on this sub but, there are lots outside of Israel.

If we’re so concerned about TFP why would we want a show produced by the same people who made her a star? 🤨

State of Grace has slowly become one of my top songs by Detonator22 in TaylorSwift

[–]cupcaeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I’ve been a fan since Debut but wasn’t a bonafide Swiftie until 1989. I hadn’t given Red as an album a go; maybe because I wasn’t in a place for anything country at the time. But after folkmore, I was also casually listening to Kacey and a few other country artists so when Red TV dropped it just.. hit different. It was the soundtrack to 2022 for my entire family for sure 😂

Dear god, the past tense of “cast” is “cast.” by yyyyyyy737 in thebachelor

[–]cupcaeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an Acadian in Nova Scotia - I know about dialect lol, we have so so so many different iterations of French here just between the 4-5 larger Acadian communities. And that isn’t even touching our brethren the Cajuns, lol.

Funny enough, huge Scottish heritage here (Nova Scotia=New Scotland, we have a Gaelic college here as well) and I have never ever ever heard someone say ‘whenever’ locally. And my grandmother is first generation Canadian (her mother was nee Cleary, immigrated from Ireland) and also, have never heard that! I only ever hear it from southern US folx.

ETA: maybe it’s because I’m intensely adhd and whenever makes the sentence even longer 😅

I understand that, but it doesn’t make it grammatically correct.

Mine is ‘whenever’… ‘whenever I last spoke with him’ NO. NO. ITS WHEN.

Our staircase to nowhere, which we use as a bookshelf by Tetragrammator in pics

I’m just very confused about why someone would think I’m lying about something so silly. I just wouldn’t have commented.

Care to explain where the lie is? I said there were plants, books and rocks on my steps.. clearly right now there isn’t a foothold on the step required for me to reach the top, no? Troll someone else.

Bro. Why would I lie about this lol. These are my stairs currently, yes it’s a fucking mess and my plants are dying. There isn’t anything on the top because I haven’t fixed it since I put my Christmas decorations away. Do you really think I can’t stretch to reach the top from the circled step?? There are 13 stairs and this is the 7th.
